September Love With Food

I went to my mailbox yesterday expecting to only find my Best of Britain GLOSSYBOX and was shocked to see my September Love With Food box in there! I had planned to upgrade to the Deluxe box but didn’t reply to my acceptance e-mail in time, so it ended up with the standard box.

The Box

Love With Food ships via DHL Global Mail, which starts out with DHL and is delivered by USPS.  My tracking didn’t update until it was delivered, so I was surprised to see it.

First Look

Not the best first look picture, but it was what can you do.  I have no idea if this is true or not, but I felt like the boxes were a bit bigger this month?  Did anyone else think this?

The Information Card

The September Love With Food Box was curated by Chef Ming Tsai and includes a hand picked selection of gluten-free goodies. Chef Ming Tsai was a contestant on The Next Iron Chef and a national spokesman for the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN) (I got that from Wikipedia). Here’s what the box included:

~Cheddar Cheese Organicasaurus from Good Boy Organics: I am pleased to report that these are delicious.  Everyone tried them last night and we all agreed, they are good.  These are nice and cheesy, but not so cheesy that your hands are stained orange after.  I would rank them higher than Goldfish Puffs, but slightly under Cheetos Naturals. L would rank them the highest though since they are shaped like dinosaurs.

~Roasted Red Pepper and Artichoke Bruschetta from Milas Foods: I haven’t tried this yet, but that’s mainly because we don’t have anything in the house I want to try it with.  I feel like sandwich bread isn’t going to cut it.  I need something better!

~Blueberry Fruit Bars from Betty Lou’s: We all sampled this last night as well and declared it to be yummy.  It says on the card that it tastes like cobbler, but I think it’s better since I am not a huge cobbler fan.  It wasn’t as dense as like a fig bar, but was still substantial and held together nicely.

~Roasted Garlic Hummus from Wild Garden: Well you know I love this!  I put it in the fridge right away and look forward to having it this weekend.  I need to find multi-packs of the flavored ones like these!

~100% Natural Crunchy Cinnamon Apple Chips from Bare Fruits: I’ve had various flavors of these in the past and they are something I never mind getting more of.  They are crunchier than other apple chips, which I like.

~Cherry Berry Raw Cookie from Licious Organics: I wasn’t expecting much from this, but to my surprise, it was good.  I found it to be a cross between a granola bar and a fig bar.  I thought it would be dry and kind of icky, but not at all.  I’d probably even buy more of these.

~Sipping Broth from Millies Savory Teas: I received sipping broth back in February’s Love With Food, but in a different flavor. I can’t for the life of me recall if I tried this?  The spicy tortilla sounds interesting enough, so I think I will try that one and let B try the other one.

~Cinnamon Crunch from Cosmos Creations: I received these (but in a different flavor) in my March LWF box.  I do love these, but would have preferred to see a snack in here that we haven’t sampled yet.

~Fruit Snacks from YumEarth Organics: L gave these a huge thumbs up and I have already ordered more for his lunchbox!  I tried one too and they taste great.  And they are shaped lik

Did you get Love With Food this month?  What’d you think?   I didn’t love it as much as I loved last month’s box, but can you really compete with Rip Van Wafels?  I think not!  This month’s box was less sweets and more healthy snack / lunchbox friendly foods for L and he did find some things he loved and wants in his lunches, so that’s good!  But I do love those wafels….

If you are interested in signing up click here.  Subscriptions (for a regular box) are $12/month, but you can use the code “FBGIFT″ to get your first box free!  You only pay shipping (which is $2)!!  It looks like the waiting list for the Deluxe Box (it’s $19.95/month and contains 16-2o items) still exists, so if you are interested in getting on the list, you can do so here!  If you got the Deluxe Box this month, what’d you think?  Was there anything different?  Hopefully I can remember to sign up for one next month!
