The Tasteful Pantry
The Tasteful Pantry

The Tasteful Pantry, who kindly sent me over this box to review, is a brand new subscription box for your “free-from” dietary needs. Each Treat Box contains 5-7 individual-size sweet and salty snacks, customized for the ‘free-from’ preferences you provide during the check-out process for your first order. Options include “gluten-free”, “vegan”, “dairy-free”, “soy-free” and “nut-free”. You can select from one or more of the “free-from” options or can select “none” to try a sampling of treats.

The Box

The Tasteful Pantry ships via USPS, which of course I love.  And it doesn’t hurt that their box is adorable too!

First Look

While I knew the idea behind The Tasteful Pantry, I didn’t know exactly what I’d be receiving.  The first looks from brand new boxes are the best.  It’s so exciting to discover a brand new box!

The Information Cards

The information cards are packaged in a little envelope and include product information and also nutritional information.  I don’t have any “free-from” restrictions, so I requested a mixed box and received the following:

~Angie’s Kettle Corn: I have had this before and it’s delicious.  I am saving this because I am going to pack it in L’s lunch box this week.  And yes, I noticed the “Sell By” date has passed.  However, thanks to this article, I have also realized that doesn’t mean all that much.

~IPS Egg White Chips – Barbeque: I wasn’t expecting much from these chips. Egg white chips?  Gross.  However, I tried them and they are delicious.  No, I’m not kidding.  They are seriously better than bbq popchips.

~JumpStart Apple Bar: I opened this to try during the Emmy’s last night and was expecting to find kind of a mushy bar.  BUT, it was really good.  It was almost granola like.  I was very very impressed by this and will totally pick up more.  I would have never bought this on my own because, yeah, it doesn’t look all that appetizing!  But it’s good. I swear.

~Enjoy Life Beach Bash Seed & Fruit Mix: I am going to give this to B in one of his lunches, or save it for a snack on the plane (VEGAS) for him.  It’s basically trail mix, with seeds instead of nuts.  Oh and without m&m’s ;).

~WOW Chocolate Chip Cookie: I don’t believe I have ever had a wheat-free and gluten-free cookie, but WOW, now I want more!  This was probably one of the best packaged cookies I have ever had.  Gluten-free or not.  Delicious!

~Beanfields Bean & Rice Chips – Nacho: I bought some guacamole for these today and I can’t wait to test out the combo.  I’ve had them alone, but I think this will make it even better.

I didn’t do a cost breakdown on The Tasteful Pantry because it gets difficult with snacks and treats and determining shipping and all that fun stuff.

The Tasteful Pantry Treat Box starts at $21.99/month and can be ordered here.  You can also shop in their store where you can use the coupon code “ROASM5OFF15” to save $5 off your purchase of $15  or more! (expires on 12/31/13).

What are your thoughts on it?  Do you have a “free-from” diet requirement?  Have you never tried any of these items?

Disclosure: This complimentary box was received for review purposes. As always, all opinions are my own and no compensation was received
