Edited to Add: Carefree Crafts has closed their doors.
L’s October Carefree Crafts, which was sent to us to review, came a week or so ago, but we put it aside to work on until last night. In case you aren’t familiar, Carefree Crafts is a monthly subscription service which delivers fun craft kits to your door every month (or a la carte). They is perfect for preschool and elementary ages kids (aka L) ages 3-7. Subscriptions start at $12.50/month and contain five (or more) complete craft kits.
Carefree Crafts ships via USPS and always arrives to me very quickly. And like I mentioned last month, if Carefree Crafts is customizing a monthly package to a certain holiday (Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, 4th of July, etc.) they will ship the package earlier in the month to make sure it arrives in time for you to be able to work on the crafts before the holiday.
I was SO excited when I pulled this cute bag out of the package. It contained all of our craft projects and was also one of the projects itself. I knew L would totally love it.
The October Carefree Crafts theme was “Happy Halloween” and included six fun Halloween crafts to get your kids excited about Halloween. The information sheet also includes various fun Halloween facts including the fact that 93% of children under age 12 will go trick-or-treating this year. Incredible!
~Color a Trick-or-Treat Bag: Probably L’s most favorite Carefree Crafts project to date. Coloring on paper isn’t all that exciting for him, but when you are coloring on a bag that you can carry candy in, that’s even more exciting! We probably won’t use this for trick-or-treating though because he’s already got it filled up with a million toys and cars and other stuff he wants to keep away from WB!
~Monster Pumpkin: When I opened the package I kind of expected to have to glue everything on which would have sucked. But happily everything was peel and stick. I know for a fact we didn’t have this when I was a kid. Whoever thought of peel and stick foam is a complete genius.
~Halloween Lacing Puppet: I am cracking up because no one that lives in this house appears to understand the concept of lacing. I started off the project and laced it wrong. Then L took over and laced it wrong. And then B came in and took over and also had lacing troubles. I am glad this isn’t a skill any of us need much!!!
~Spider Puppet: This project is totally L and I know he’s looking forward to trying to scare B with it. I think he’s thinking of dangling it over his face while he’s sleeping? Something along those lines ;).
~Tissue Paper Ghost: I don’t know how he knew which project would be the most difficult just by looking at them, but he did and he assigned it (aka this one) to me. OMG it was a tedious project. I love love love the results (and it’s not included in the picture at the top because L ran off with it to hang it up), but man did this take a minute to complete. There is no way L (or even B) would have been down for this.
~Masquerade Ball Sticker Scene: L did a great job recreating the scene in the picture provided. He’s like me in that he likes some general guidelines in his projects. I love having a picture or some sort of point of reference so I love they include pictures of everything!
