MakrBox, who kindly sent me this box to review, is a monthly box of incredibly useful and uniquely fun household products created by talented makers, craftsmen and designers.  It’s $29/month (+shipping) and includes two or three household products with WOW factor!

MakrBox ships via USPS and was one of the many boxes waiting for me on my porch yesterday.  The mail person is kind enough to leave it in a shipping contain for us and L happily helped me carry it is (he carries one side, I carry one side).  It won’t be long before it’s WB helping L carry it in instead of me.

Since MakrBox sends such a variety of items that I never really know what to expect from them.  I was once again struck by the fun packaging materials that they use. Unlike last month when they included one information card with all the vendor information, this month’s box includes separate cards for each.  There was a note from MakrBox on the front of one of the cards explaining a little about the box and welcoming feedback on it.

Here is what the October MakrBox contained:

~Flying Bird Botanicals Dream Catcher Tea ($14): We all know how I feel about tea, so I’ll keep my personal feelings out of this. The girls behind Flying Bird Botanicals source all ingredients locally and what they can’t source, they grow themselves!  My cousin (who loves tea) doesn’t know it yet (well she may now if she’s reading this) is going to get a big box of all sorts of tea from me this weekend and will be thrilled to get it.  Not all items in the boxes I get will be a perfect fit for me, but I can always find a use for them.

~Fisher Woodworking Saute Spoon ($18): I can’t find a link to him online, but Geoff Fisher, the artist behind Fisher Woodworking creates his handmade kitchen utensils using scraps of wood from his neighbors commercial cabinet shop and finishes them with safe, all-natural oils.  Talk about repurposing.  I need to start stockpiling gifts for Christmas for my husband (*) and this is going to be one!

~Alchemy Goods Money Slip Wallet, Thin Wallet ($12): Everything from Alchemy Goods is made entirely of recycled bike and truck inner tubes.  How cool is that?  This is another stocking stuffer item and I need to make sure to save the information card because I know B will be interested in the back story just as much as I am.

All totaled I came up with a value of $44 for the October MakrBox, which is well above the $29/month (+ shipping) cost of the box.  I love discovering all these new makers and really enjoy reading their stories of how they got started and how much they love what they do.
