Amoda Tea is a monthly tea subscription service which brings you a monthly delivery of artisan teas from around the world. Each month you will receive 3 different teas, enough to make 5-7 cups of each. They kindly offered to send me this box to review and while I did warn them I wasn’t too fond of tea, they said their was a tea out there for everyone and sent the box along! I’m planning on using these teas as stocking stuffers for B and *might* just have a cup of one ;).
I didn’t realize it, but Amoda Tea is a Canadian company and, therefore, ships from Canada. I can’t explain it, but I always feel so fancy when I get a package from another country. It could be crispy m&m’s or anything really, but that international postage always has me excited! Please tell me I am not the only one who thinks like this?
I wasn’t expecting all the packaging to be so cute! I was thinking more along the lines of individual tea bags or cloth bags of tea or something, but these little resealable pouches are WAY better! They are labeled with the descriptions of the tea, the country it’s from, how to make it, etc.
The September Amoda Tea Tasting Box didn’t have a theme (sometimes they will follow a theme and sometimes they won’t), but all the teas this month are from Hale Tea Company. This month they included three teas that are season neutral because September marks the beginning of weather which is not too hot, but not too cold either. Two of the selections can be iced just in case that summer weather hangs on! Here are the tea selections from this month:
~Creamy Cacao Delight by Hale Tea Company: Creamy Cacao Delight is a green tea with white buds and organic white cacao shell. The description, it’s got a lingering white chocolate flavor and notes of vanilla bean, actually made me want to try try this. Not enough to open the package myself (just for me) though because I don’t want to waste any!
~Mirabelle Cream by Hale Tea Company: This tea contains green rooibos (I googled – it’s a broom-like member of the legume family of plants growing in South Africa), Mirabelle fruit flavour and smooth cream. This tea is good hot or iced and says it mimics eating an actual Mirabelle plum.
~Vanilla Jasmine Special by Hale Tea Company: This tea is a combination of black and green teas and contains jasmine and vanilla pieces. It’s also described as having “hints of caramel and cocoa”. I was never one to be able to pull out flavors like that from beverages. My taste buds must not be that sensitive?? I can’t tell when reading wine descriptions either. I taste…wine. Sometimes it’s better than others, but I still taste wine.
While Amoda Tea may not be the monthly subscription service for me, I can totally see it being a great gift for a friend of relative that loves tea. It’s only $12/month and is a great way to sample a variety of items without having to purchase a full bag / box of tea only to realize that yeah, that’s just not something you love!
