When the folks over at Birchbox asked me if I’d want to do a review on their latest Limited Edition Birchbox Home Box – Snow Day, I couldn’t say yes fast enough. I got a sneak peek of a picture of this box a few weeks ago and I have been excited about it ever since!
The Limited Edition Snow Day box is much larger than a regular Birchbox and has a cute design on the top to make it seem like it’s snowing. And it actually is snowing today outside, so this could not have come at a more perfect time.
Everything was packed neatly in the box and is ready for gift giving. Add some pretty ribbon or a bow to the outside and you’re set. Or keep it all for yourself as a gift from you to you ;).
The Snow Day Box includes an information card with product information, as well as, assorted cards that include other snow day tips. One of the cards gives Four Steps to a Perfect At-Home Snow Day, another gives Scrabble tips and one gives suggestions for books to curl up with.
Here is what the Birchbox Snow Day Box includes:
~(MALIN + GOETZ) Votive (Cannabis or Dark Rum) ($13.58): Like lip balm, I can never have too many candles. I love trying new brands and scents and this is one I’d never buy on my own. And I try not to get my hopes up for any specific scent on things like this, but I was really secretly hoping that I got the dark rum one and that’s what I received!!! And I love it!
~Askinosie Chocolate® Single Origin Cocoa Powder ($3.23): Okay I was just having a conversation with B about powdered hot chocolate. I want to know if you can put it in your brew your own Vue cup thing? We’re not sure. Certainly I could make it in the microwave or on the stove, but I was curious, Does anyone know?
~Chantecaille Flower Infused Cleansing Milk ($5.08) and Chantecaille Jasmine & Lily Healing Mask ($7.99): I’ve never heard about this brand, but I am super excited to try the healing mask. It soothes dry, wind-burned skin and can also double as a night cream.
~Happy Socks® Combed Cotton Crew Socks ($10): I think these are what I eyed first from this box. I love cozy socks in the winter and these are stylish and cozy! I think I want a second pair, in a different fun print, already!
~JONATHAN ADLER Fireplace Matches (Purple Flame) ($10): I have a gas fireplace so obviously I won’t be using these to light that, but they are going on my mantle or out somewhere because the container is just so pretty. I will use them to light candles.
~L’OCCITANE Shea Butter Hand Cream ($1.86): Love this stuff! I was staring at it at Sephora the other day trying to decide if I should buy more or not. I’m glad I didn’t because I forgot it was coming in this box.
~Mox Botanicals Matcha & Clementine Body Soak ($4.47): Oddly enough I actually was thinking about taking a bath the other day. Now that I have this (which smells amazing), I am going to really do it.
~S.W. Basics Organic Lip Balm (Cinnamon or Peppermint) ($3.75): I got the full flight of these last year and they are great. I would never be sad about getting lip balm in a box. Ever.
~Scrabble® Birchbox Edition Mini Game Set ($36): I am awful at Scrabble (I cannot spell to save my life), but that doesn’t mean I don’t like it! Because I do. I will be challenging B to a game soon. And isn’t this little set adorable? The cute factor alone gets me.
~Three Tarts Gourmet Marshmallows in Cinnamon (2 ct) ($2.29): I sm going to save these and make L smores with them after the first real snow of the season. Hot chocolate and smores with these fancy marshmallows sounds good to me.
All totaled I came up with a value of $98.25 for the Birchbox Limited Edition: Snow Day Box! It says online it’s $105 and I am guessing that some of the sample sized products were valued difference. either way, not bad at all considering that the box itself is only $39! At first I wasn’t sure about this box, but now I wish I had used some BB points to grab it! I’m glad you got the dark rum candle, I have yet to see anyone with the cannibis… that would be an interesting smell indeed!

About the cocoa, I don’t know about putting it through your Keurig since the consistency is a little different from coffee although now you have me wondering. You could always just put it in a mug and run hot water through your machine for it.

Honestly, I think you can. I had some keurig cups that were for some sort of yummy flavored coffee and they completely dissolved kind of like the international cafe coffee does.

Jennifer, I make hot chocolate all the time with my keurig, I don’t have the cue though. I just put the cup in its spot I don’t insert the coffee pod but I lift the handle up like I am going to. So I guess it’s like pretending your putting it in. Hahaha then I just close. Oh I put the cocoa powder in the cup. Now I press the size I want and just the hot water comes out right into the cocoa powder. Is that what you were looking for. They also have hot chocolate k cups too. Hope I helped 🙂
No, I know you can make hot water with it, I was just curious if I could use the “brew your own Vue cup thing” and pack it with hot chocolate instead of coffee. It’s this:

I think that I like it all… I didn’t buy it when I had a chance, because I live in Texas, and thought “Snow Day” just didn’t work here. Well, after looking more closely at the products, wish that I had bought it. Love the candle, matches, hand cream, well the whole box. Somebody else could have the socks though, not a socks kind of girl 🙂

My favorite items are the candle and the hand cream. I just moved to Minnesota (way colder than what I’m used to!) and I can’t find a hand cream to combat this dry skin from the cold weather!
I don’t have a Vue, but I have the regular Keurig machine and when I make hot chocolate I just run it without a K-cup in there to get hot water and then mix the cocoa in myself. I’ve tried hot chocolate K-cups and they’re just not the same… I don’t think you get as much flavor out of them.
We have some Vue hot chocolate cups that I like. I forget who they are by though.
I recommend Tocca hand cream too!

Three things; the matches, the Scrabble game and the candle – in that order. But yeah, I’d probably wear the socks while playing the game with the candle burning in the background! Add hot cocoa and marshmallows and you’re all set.

I am such a sucker forpretty packaging so i am a huge fan of the fireplace matches. Despite living in a condo my unit has a fireplace and it makes the house smell so good and feel so cozy in the winter!
