My November Julep Maven Box arrived a few days ago and I kind of delaying writing this review because it has SO many products in it this month. That is not a bad thing at all. I just wasn’t sure were to begin with it all!

The Box

I am so glad that Julep is still using Priority Mail for their monthly Maven boxes. I know they use DHL Global mail for all mystery boxes / shop purchases and that stuff always takes so long for it to arrive to me. I’m talking two days with Priority Mail compared to almost two weeks with DHL.

First Look

Seriously there was so much this box!  I upgraded to the Ultimate Collection when the selection window was open because I wanted ALL the lip glosses from this month, but I didn’t remember exactly how many there were.  WOW!  I believe that the Full Collection included all of the polishes plus one lip gloss and the lip plumper this month.

November Julep Maven
The Right at Home Collection

The November Julep Maven theme was “Right at Home” Collection and included nine polishes, five glosses and the Blank Canvas Lip Plumping Primer.  Here are all the details:

~Alexandra – Boho Glam( $14 / $11.20): Alexandra is a blonde crème and while I think the color is gorgeous, it will probably work best for me under a glitter.

Alexandra – Boho Glam

~Aisha – Boho Glam ($14 / $11.20): Aisha is a wildberry purple crème.  Perfect seasonal I think, but it won’t be the first one I grab from this collection.

~Brielle – Bombshell ($14 / $11.20): Brielle is a deep autumn orange crème and I am loving it!  I plan to use this one on my toes asap.

~Nic – Bombshell ($14 / $11.20): Nic is a black crimson crème and is hands down, my favorite polish from this month’s collection.  I love it. I like super dark polishes better because they are hide my polishing mistakes much better.

~Cynthia – Classic With a Twist: ($14 / $11.20).  Cynthia is a desert sand micro glitter and  while it’s totally something I would normally pick I love it. It reminds me of that bodysuit that Britney Spears who at the VMA’s.

~Shelia – Classic with a Twist ($14 / $11.20): Shelia is a cherry pie red crème.  It’s more red than it looks in my picture and I always love getting a new fresh red polish.

~Chloe – It Girl ($14 / $11.20): Chloe is a warm cocoa frost and I’m kinda just so-so on it. I don’t love it, but I don’t hate it either.

Chloe – It Girl

~Lola – It Girl ($14 / $11.20): Lola is a moonlit night blue satin.  I have a navy Julep that I love, but maybe I need two?  That reminds me.  I should take a picture of all my Julep polishes.  It will likely take me a week to properly color coordinate them (B still hasn’t hung those shelves for me), but it’ll happen I promise.

~Winter – It Girl ($14 / $11.20):  Winter is a grey cloud crème and I am thinking it will be perfect with glitter around the top of the nail.

~Blank Canvas Plumping Lip Primer ($22/ $17.60):  This is a “multi-tasking marvel that plumps, moisturizes, and preps lips for flawless color application”.  And while I loved it when it was on, I totally do not like the applicator. It took me seriously 30 clicks to get it started and then once it started it would NOT stop coming out.  Seriously.  It was oozing everywhere.  Did anyone else have this issue?  I finally just tossed it because it wouldn’t stop.  I haven’t contacted Julep yet, but I plan too.

~The Glosses ($22/each / $17.60/each):  I really liked these glosses. They went on sheer, but gave just enough color to make them work.  I don’t love the actual container, but considering they don’t ooze everywhere, I am happy with them!

~Add On: Autumn – It Girl ($14 / $11.20):  Autumn is a burnt red-orange multidimensional glitter top coat and when I saw it as an add-on option, I knew I had to get it.  It’s not a thick glitter and will work with so many thing from this collection.

Did you get a Julep Maven Right at Home box this month?  Julep boxes are $20/month, but I opted for the Ultimate Collection this month, which added an additional $55 to that.  So for $75, I received $258 worth of products (or $206.40 if you use Maven pricing).  That works out to what, $5 an item?  Hard to beat.

What was your favorite color in the box and what collection did you opt for?  Did you get any add-ons?  If you are interested in signing up, or just want to learn more, click here.  And, as always, you can use code “FREEBOX” to score your first box FREE (you pay shipping which I think is $3.99).  If you want to see if how you like the Julep colors / formulas, this is the best way!

I chose the boho glam with Alexandra (my daughter’s name) and Aisha, I also added-on another Alexandra, Brielle, and Autumn. I’m wearing all of them right now. Brielle as a dominant color, Alexandra with Autumn over tom on ring finger, and Aisha on my middle finger. Brielle and Autumn are my favorites.

      Ohhh, that sounds great!

Love all the colors! I could see myself wearing them all! Can you still purchase the full set? And how do you like the formula? Like I love a lot of Essie’s colors but prefer the formula of OPI’s polishes.
As for the click applicator, usually to start those off you have to twist a few times to allow the lip gloss to move up the tube but no matter what I always seem to click it too many times at first too and it all comes gooping out, haha.

I like OPI’s formula better than Julep I think. I find that the formula is different between colors with Julep though? Not sure why.

I LOVE the primer! I think everyone is having the issues with the flow of the primer but it hasn’t been a big deal. The initial use it does come out a lot because it takes so many to get it started. But the next time I used it…it took like 8 clicks to get it started then I used it and put the cap back on knowing it would keep coming out. Honestly I like that it does it because the next time I use it there’s enough at the tip of it that I don’t have to click it. I know it’s weird but it totally works for me. I actually used the 50% code to get the entire lip set so I could get a back up of the primer!

I did like it when I had it on! I put a lot on though since I was trying to use up everything that came out!

My lip primer was a dud! I clicked it a million times and nothing ever came out and there was a similar review on Julep’s website already. I’m so disappointed. I only ordered Modern Beauty for the primer and I’m not even sure if I want a replacement now. I may just ask to exchange the Modern Beauty box for Bombshell instead….

Have you checked it lately? Mine didn’t start “oozing” until long after the clicking stopped!

      1. Judy

Yeah, I tried it two days ago and checked it again after I read your comment. Still dry!

        1. Jennifer

Well enough of mine came out for both of us!

I skipped this month since I had so many polishes lately. Now I think I missed out. LOL but more colors for me to hope for with the mystery boxes. 😉 I slowly trying to use every polish I own at least once so that I don’t have unused ones in my stash. Not sure it will ever happen but its my thought.

    1. Jennifer

That is a good reason to continue to have to get mystery boxes. I would LOVE to use each color once. I need to get started. NOW.

I had a similar problem with the oozing of the regular lip gloss. I opted for the boho glam this month. I used the regular lip gloss once and loved it but then when I went to use it a second time, it came out EVERYWHERE. I cleaned it up and left it alone with the intent to call Julep but when I opened it a day later…it seemed fine…I probably won’t fool with calling them but also probably won’t get it again until they work the kinks out 🙂

I’m so glad I wasn’t the only one with this issue. I was like how did i screw up lip gloss!
