Much to my surprise, my December ipsy My Glam bag arrived today! I totally wasn’t expecting it so it made it even more fun when it did arrive. If you aren’t familiar, ipsy sends subscribers a beautiful Glam Bag with deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products for only $10/month.
ipsy ships via DHL Global Mail, which means it starts out with DHL and then ends up being delivered by USPS. How long it will take to arrive each month is really anyone’s guess. I think some months it’s taken a week or two whereas this month took like 4 days!
The December ipsy My Glam Bag theme is “Celebration” and includes items to make you glamorous no matter what you are celebrating! ipsy sends out bag variations, via “ipsymatch”, which based on the preferences you enter when you take the ipsy quiz. There were 13 different products this month and, I believe, each subscriber received 5 of those items. I have no idea how many different variations of the bag that would make, but this is what I received:
~Pop Beauty Bright Up Your Life Eye Shadow Trio (Naturally Bare) ($7.20): I don’t think these colors could be any more perfect for me to tell you the truth. I don’t *need* more shadows (and likely won’t for the next 20 years), but I love these colors so I am thrilled with this.
~Be A Bombshell The One Stick (Girl Crush) ($16): This is an all-in-one shadow, lip gloss and cheek tint. And I love this too. “Girl Crush” is a pearlescent light pink and it’s enough, without being too much if that makes sense!
~Nicka K New York Nail Color ($4.99): I had seen some of the colors and was like meh. But when I opened it up and saw this red I was excited! I think it’s my favorite of the colors I have seen / heard of being sent out.
~NYX Extra Creamy Round Lipstick (B52) ($4): This is the only item this month that I am like so-so about. I just don’t do lipstick. Some people love it, but I love gloss. This will be nice for my sister-in-law who gets all my lipsticks though (I don’t think she’ll ever have to buy lipstick again).
~Demeter Snow roll-On Perfume ($10): Pretty sure I couldn’t be more excited about this! I logged onto my ipsy account when I heard the December bags were posted and pretty much gasped when I saw that I had gotten the Demeter! SO EXCITED! I’m not sure it smells like snow, but I love it. Yay!!
Bonus Item (redeemed from referral points) (~$20): This month’s bonus item, which I used my points I get from referrals (I believe 4 referrals = one gift) was a BeautyBlender and sample size cleanser! I have one already and I love it, so when I saw that this was an option for the points, I jumped on it!
All totaled, NOT including the value of the referral gift, my December ipsy bag had a value of $42.19. Including the gift, it had a value of $62.19! Insanity! I LOVED this month and think it was one of my favorites in a long time! Had I not gotten the Demeter I likely would have thought otherwise!

I’m wearing my red polish right now. I put it on last night once I had gotten it. I love it. This was a great bag all around especially since I didn’t get the false lashes. I think I would have been happy with anything but the lashes.
I totally agree. Had I gotten those lashes I wouldn’t have been as happy at all!

I got a similar mix – I got the eyeshadows, the One Stick – a pretty bright pink that I am not sure will work for me, the NYX lipstick – I like it, but the color I got is so light it makes me look dead. I also got the nail polish, but I got the blah brownish color – I wish I had gotten red. My final item was a blending brush, which I can always use. I was happy with the products this month, but I am not thrilled with the shades (the eye shadows are great though).
Honestly I always get crazy variations do I don’t know how I got so lucky this month!
I got mine yesterday! Same as yours and I’m loving the red also!! Planning on rocking it with a red dress and cheetah print heels to a Christmas party 🙂 I thought the make-up bag was super cute this month too!

I got the false eyelashes 🙁 *sadness face* I’ll probably give them to my child to play with and put on one of her dolls or something lol. I also go the one stick thingy. I totally had to GTS b/c I had no clue exactly what it was supposed to do. I was looking at it thinking…hmm…if it’s one stick, and i paint my whole face with it…will I look like a super model?? 🙂

I loved everything except a lip pencil in red which is just not a good color on me. My 7th grader went to a dance tonight and I put the lightest color of the eyeshadow on her for a bit of shimmer and it looked completely appropriate!

I just got my first Ipsy package. I am quite thrilled with it. I got the Be a Bombshell, the one stick in Girl Crush (color). An eye blender brush. A deep purple sparkly nail polish by Jule. The big lip pencil in Red Rose. I’ve been searching for a great red lipstick and I love this shade. Last but not least, the Pop Beauty eyeshadow trio in Smokin Hot.

So I got the false lashes, the same Bombshell stick as you, a J.cats lip crayon, Signature by English Laundry, and the Pop eyeshadow. I liked the black bag itself,and the eyeshadow, but was less than thrilled with the rest. I guess I just feel that what I filled out on my profile is not being matched that well. With the variety that is offered each month, I should be more satisfied. I know the point of these subscriptions is to try new things, which I love to do, I’m a total product ho, but I will never use the lip products I have received. On the plus side, my sister and my nieces are benefiting greatly, & I really liked the eyeshadow a lot.

I feel the same way as you…my bags lately have been so crappy…I feel like I keep getting the worst possible items I could get…every time I see what I could get & I end up getting what I don’t want to get…I feel bad complaining tho’ cause I do feel like it’s $10 & a good deal but I can’t help feeling so frustrated lately and consider canceling…like this month I got bright red lip pencil, bumble bee colored nailpolish (Yuk!) and stupid perfume samples that leaked all out….Jen I’m so jealous of your bag!
I pretty much feel like you do every month! And then a month like this comes along and it’s all better! But even in the months I am not in love, it’s still only $10 and I do think it’s worth it.

I would much rather have gotten the colors you did in the eyeshadow, lipstick, and BaB stick! I also would have loved to get the fake eyelashes or the Demeter perfume! Wah! How does the perfume smell?
It smells “clean”. I’m not sure I smell snow, but I like it.
I was so wishing I’d get the delete but I got the English laundry which leaked a little and seems to have done so for a lot of people 🙁

I had the same bag as Ashlee with the addition of the blending brush. Tried the red lipstick pencil but I’ve never rocked red. It was my first bag and I was so excited to see so many full size products! Not sure why I didn’t sign up sooner!
They really do a good job of bringing full sized products into the boxes!
I got almost everything you got, except I got the Mirabella Eye Blender Brush instead of the Snow Perfume Oil. Only I got different shades. I got the same eye shadow trio, the one stick in Flustered, the nail polish in a toupe color and the NYX lipstick in Ceto.

I LOVE the red Nicka K. polish! It’s my favorite of all the nail polishes I’ve received from Ipsy since I started with them and perhaps one of my top red polishes that I’ve tried in general.
Ohh, I haven’t done a full coat yet, but you are making me want to!
I received the pretty red polish as well. The first coat saturates the color. So, I was initially quite pleased. Two coats, a top coat, and 12 hours later, the polish began to chip (excessively). I told a friend, who is also an ipsy subscriber and hers chipped right away as well. Not even a full day is unacceptable for nail polish.
My polish always chips so fast, so I am a bad judge!
omg I love Ipsy. I love the December bag, oh and even add to my budget. its worth every cents spent. let me tell you the package it amazing , the bags are a beauty and the products well a girl can never have too much make up. I just love that the products are full size items and brand name.
They do have a great value!!!!
I am always interested in reading ipsy reviews off of their website or Facebook ( seems like someone is always getting attacked!) I am especially excited to read different bloggers reviews because most seem to subscribe to many different services. I’m just wondering how you think ipsy compares to other services? At first I felt like I was winning the lottery every month, but it has been a year and I am starting to see a real repetitiveness in brands and strange colors which is making me question whether to switch to something else! How does ipsy rank for you?
Between Birchbox and ipsy (which is what people always compare), I like Birchbox better. They send a better variety of products and they have an amazing referral system. ipsy sends a better value for sure, but they send a lot of makeup and I like to sample other things as well.

So – which do you prefer – Birchbox or Ipsy? And why???? I’m getting Birchbox. Was thinking of adding Ipsy, or canceling birchbox and getting ipsy instead. What do you think???
I always lean towards Birchbox because I feel like they send a better variety of products (skincare, makeup, haircare, etc) and ipsy is more centered on just makeup. Plus I really like their point system. However, ipsy usually does have an incredible value!
