Appleseed Lane, who kindly sent L and I this box to review, is focused on developing a love of learning among kids in preschool and elementary school. They deliver exciting and educational boxes each month filled with all of the materials you need for 3 to 4 science or math projects. Each month’s box has a unique theme and are designed for kids ages 4-10 years old.
Appleseed Lane ships via USPS Ground. I don’t recall the exact day I received it, but it didn’t take too long to arrive I know that (I remember when boxes take forever)!
The December Appleseed Lane theme was “Electricity & Circuits”and included projects to help show kids the types of electricity is generated. Here are the projects that were included:
Power It Up:
The first project was “Power It Up” was about using the materials included to make your own battery and light up the light in the kit. I won’t get into all the positive and negative charge details, but it totally worked. We were all quite impressed to tell you the truth. I didn’t think it was going to work!
Let It Flow
The next experiment we worked on was “Let It Flow”. And let me just say, it’s a good thing B was home for this. To say that he was unimpressed with my science skills would be an understatement! We tested to various materials to see if they were conductors which L thought was so fun. It seemed obvious to me that a golf tee wouldn’t work, but to L, heck that might work, let’s try it!
Static Magic
OMG, Static Magic was so cool!! So cool. It seemed so simple, but it I never would have thought of this project at home you know? We loved making the little wooden stick on the nickel spin with our static electricity. Super neat. We didn’t have as much luck with the making the water bend one, but I think it was partly because we couldn’t get a our water to come out slow enough.
Starry Night
In Starry Night, we decorated our star sheet and then used the light circuit on the inside to make out own starry night light! L thought it was awesome and frankly I did too. The container was sturdy and could be used for storage after you are done with the light!
The box also includes “Seedlings” which is the Appleseed Lane booklet / magazine that gives more information on each of the projects, as well as, Fun Facts and a little story to go along with the theme.

Just showed these projects to M and he thought they were awesome. Being electrical engineers you’d think we did more of these kinds of experiments. LOL maybe we need to add them into our fun list.
LOL. I felt like I learned a lot with this one too. B was so disappointed in my knowledge of electricity.
