One of my three December Citrus Lane boxes arrived this morning (the mail came super early) and even though I knew what was in it, I was anxious to dig thru it.
I had originally ordered a “Deluxe” box and a “Classic” box for WB (who is 20 months-old), so that I could compare the two. This is the Classic box, however, I hear that they are exactly the same and they have said that the “Deluxe” items are shipping separate? Not really sure how that’s all working, but I will report when I get my things. They are no longer offering the three different box options (Basic, Classic & Deluxe), but if you wanted to read about what they were planning, click here.
Citrus Lane just changed their shipping method and is now shipping via FedEx Smart Post. So instead of taking the normal 4 days or whatever, it took eight days. Boo ;(.
The first look was as expected. Actually I wasn’t totally sure what I’d be getting. I had a pretty good idea, but I didn’t know if the toy would be a puzzle which I’d seen some people get, or a stacker.
The December Citrus Lane box doesn’t have a true theme, it indicated that the holidays are all about making memories. The box this month also contains a punch out craft that you can use to make a holiday scene on the wall. We haven’t done too much with their other punch outs in the past, but this one seems cool. Here is what our box contained:
~Handprint Art Kit from Pearhead (~$9.95): I am all over these kinds of projects and we will totally be making this. I am going to have L make one too when we get the next box because he likes that kind of stuff. L’s handprint will look fabulous, but WB’s will be a mess I am sure since he can’t keep still. It’ll be messy though and I like that.
~Rainbow Stacker from Melissa & Doug ($7.99): We love stackers and while I actually got WB a set of M&D stackers for Christmas, I don’t mind the spare. I am going to give it for my mom to have at her house.
~I Took the Moon for a Walk from Barefoot Books ($7.99): Adorable book. I can’t wait to read it to both WB and L at bedtime. I do wish they’d mix up their brands a but though as we have gotten a few Barefoot Books in prior boxes and I’d like to see some different stuff.
~Snuggly Lotion from Episencial ($5.08): Love this brand and love this lotion. We don’t “need” any more lotion, but I don’t “need” any more lip gloss and I am always happy to receive that, so it’s about the same!
All totaled I came up with a value of $31.01 for our December Citrus Lane box. It didn’t wow me like last month’s box did (you can see that one here), but I don’t hate it either. I feel like it could have used something else. Not sure what, maybe a snack or a pouch or heck even a lip gloss for the moms, but something.

Almost all of the same items as my 13 month girl box . Just a different title for book and puzzle vs stacker. You’d think there would be more variation between 13 and 20 months. My review is here: http://whattheschneck.blogspot.com/2013/12/citrus-lane-december-2013-review.html?m=1
I guess the lotion is fine for any age. And the hand print!
I am expecting my first citrus lane box for my 22 month ( tho she will be 23 months next week) old little girl to be delivered tomorrow I can’t wait to see whats in it!!
Let me know what you get!
I have a 6 month old and loved our box! We got the same lotion, a handprint ornament kit (with air dry clay), a stuffed pig rattle from North American Bear (who make MACHINE WASHABLE stuffed things, so smart! None of that “surface clean only”), and a klack toy from Haba. Cute and fun!
Ohh, that is a great box!! I saw some spoilers for that and thought the stuffed animal was so cute!
I got 24 month girl box. Ours was identical to yours. I agree it needed something more…
Totally. Just something…
oh wait…maybe I get gender neutral…I think I changed it after getting an ugly poodle purse…
My issue with not with the value, but that the box is not gender specific. My box is for a 20 month girl and I got the exact same box as you did. This is my second box and I felt same with last month’s box too. I subscribed to the box because I want girly toys for my daughter. I have an older son so she has lots of boy-ish or gender neutral toys already!
But I have to say, overall I am still happy with the box.
I think some of the older kid boxes were more gender specific this month. Maybe next month will be better for you!
I was disappointed with this months box… Since my son just turned 2 I have him as 2 1/2 in their system… I got the same lotion… but I got a watch… which says on it not to be used for under 3.. ??? oye… and then I got the canvas too, which to me I thought that was the moms gift but maybe not?…. and we got a build your own car from Melissa and Doug… i just didnt think it had enough value to it, and didnt have a wow factor to almost any of it… I did like that I got the lotion. Isnt there supposed to be a mommy gift in every box or no? I emailed Bluum asking that because there was nothing in my box for mommy.
You know, I don’t know if you get a mommy gift every months?? I don’t always get one with bluum. But some months I get like 3, so maybe it all evens out.
My son is 3 1/2. Our box had a Crocodile Creek watch (cute, although he is still too young for it), the same handprint art kit (I’m sure we will use it as his baby brother is due 1/24/14) and the snuggly lotion (that will definitely get used, too). I think there was one other item but I can’t remember what it was. There was also flyer about becoming a Barefoot Books “Ambassador” (basically, like a Tupperware consultant) and offering a discount on the Ambasador kit. Kind of disappointing relative to previous boxes but hopefully the next one will be better.
I hope the next one is more like November’s amazing one!
Our 6 month old daughter got the same as mentioned above, but a platypus instead of a pig. The stuff is all good (although we made salt dough foot prints last week for pennies), but could’ve used a book or something to make me really happy with it. This is our second month. Each month I’ve thought “ok one more month.” I’m addicted to the surprise element, but I’m gonna need to be wowed in January.
Agree! I book would have nicely rounded that box off!
