December Julep Maven – the glitterati

Ohh, my December Julep arrived yesterday and as you can tell by the pictures (which are no good), I had to open it right away.  I had been super excited about this month’s collection (even more so than normal), so I went ahead and ordered the “Ultimate Upgrade”, which included 12 polishes (I didn’t include the two “add-ons” in the picture) plus all of this month’s goodies.

The Box

Julep ships via USPS Priority Mail and arrived in the stated two days.  I am super glad that Julep didn’t switch the shipping of their monthly Maven boxes like they did with all of their other shipments.

FIrst Look

I couldn’t remember at first if I’d ordered any add-ons, but it appears (per my order confirmation) that the Ultimate Upgrade included all ten polishes in the collection plus the Party Duo set and all the other goodies from that month. I put the Party Duo set aside because it was a gift and then forgot to take pictures of it, but included Evelyn, magenta purple crème; Christine, bronze microshimmer.

the glitterati collection

The December Julep Maven theme is “the glitterati collection” and is my most favorite collection to date.  I don’t think there is a color in it that I don’t love!  I decided to do things a little different this month though and grouped my polishes into sets of three for the pictures.  Here is what was included:

Jillian – Classic With A Twist, Mia – Classic With A Twist & Cara – Bombshell

~Jillian – Classic With A Twist ($14 / $11.20):  Jillian is a deep eggplant with bronze molten.  It’s much more rich than any of the colors of this family that I own and I am digging it.
~Mia – Classic With A Twist ($14 / $11.20):  Mia is a greenish silver metallic and again is like no color I have.  It’s more of a toe color (for me) and kind of think it will be a summer color.
~Cara – Bombshell ($14 / $11.20): Cara is described as a cranberry frost, but I think it would more accurately be described as hot pink.  It’s a gorgeous pink.  Maybe a little deeper than most other pinks, but it’s pink!

Misti – Boho Glam, Joelle – Boho Glam & Andrea – Bombshell

~Misti – Boho Glam ($14 / $11.20):  Misty is a smoky blue-grey crème and is fairly similar to a few others I have.  This will probably end up in the gift pile.
~Joelle – Boho Glam ($14 / $11.20): Joelle is a full coverage smoky holographic glitter. It doesn’t “need” a color underneath, but I will probably give it one anyway.
~Andrea – Bombshell ($14 / $11.20):  Andrea is a brilliant full-coverage bronze glitter.  I probably will try to make this one work for me without a base coat.  I cannot stand when you can see “nail” under polish though, so hopefully it works.

Shoshanna – It Girl, Evelyn – It Girl & Celia – It Girl

~Shoshanna – It Girl ($14 / $11.20): Shoshanna is a full-coverage yellow holographic glitter.  Can you see why I had to opt for this entire collection?  All these glitters!  I couldn’t resist.
~Evelyn – It Girl ($14 / $11.20): Evelyn is a magenta purple crème and is probably the one creme in this month’s collection.  It’s a gorgeous one though!
~Celia – It Girl ($14 / $11.20): Celia is an icy green metallic and is totally my favorite of the bunch. It’s like nothing I have – not even close and is stunning.  So pretty.

Gianna – Bombshell

~Gianna – Bombshell ($14 / $11.20): Gianna is a jagged gold glitter top coat and is another great one for the holidays (and life in general).

~Sweep Eyeshadow Palette – Neutrals ($24 / $19.20) & Julep Eye Shadow Brush ($18 / $14.40): Another reason I “had” to upgrade was to get the shadow set.  Do I need shadow?  No.  But I wanted to check out Julep’s shadows.  The colors are awesome and I love that the brush.

Sweep Eyeshadow Palette – Neutrals

~Blank Canvas Mattifying Eye Primer ($22 / $17.60): Julep’s eye primer is a reparative, anti-aging eye primer masks shine while extending the life of your eye look.  I use an eye primer on occasion (rarely, but sometimes), but I’ll probably end up passing this along to a friend.

~Twistbands: I was excited to see Twistbands as this month’s special gift!  Love them!

Just another picture of the full collection (minus the Party Duo set).

The Full Collection

Did you get a Julep Maven glitterati box this month?  Julep boxes are $20/month, but like I mentioned, I opted for the Ultimate Collection this month, which added an additional $55 to that.  So for $75, I received $232 worth of products (or $185.60 if you use Maven pricing).  That works out to what, $5 an item?  Hard to beat.

What was your favorite color in the box and what collection did you opt for?  Did you get any add-ons?  If you are interested in signing up, or just want to learn more, click here.  And, as always, you can use code “FREEBOX” to score your first box FREE (you pay shipping which I think is $3.99).  If you want to see if how you like the Julep colors / formulas, this is the best way!
