Tuesdays Troubles

It’s time for another edition of Tuesday Troubles. I’ve said it before, but this should be named “things i’m annoyed / confused / want to complain about”, however I couldn’t figure out how to make any of those into a snappy title, so Tuesday Troubles it is. And yes, I do realize that these aren’t true “troubles”. I know that many of these for sure could be defined as first world problems!

~When decorating for the holidays this weekend, I realized that Christmas decorations (and all other holiday decorations for that matter) are taking over my basement. I have a zillion decorations and only use a fraction of them. Yet I keep them all because maybe, just maybe, I’ll want to do a red & silver theme or a red, white & green instead of the multi-color theme that I have going on right now. Tell me, when you get new decorations, do you quickly get rid of the old ones? Or do you keep them just in case?

~The Subscription Box List update is 75% complete and I am thrilled to (almost) be done. My goodness that was a project. I had no idea just how many bad links there were in there. Not closed boxes, but links that had been changed by sites from like www.myblog.com/monthlybox to www.myblog.com/monthly.box. Not HUGE changes, but still enough to give page errors which I am guessing people found super annoying! Sorry about that! Things should be all set by tonight!

~Umm, yeah. Has anyone gone on The Weather Channel’s website lately? What on earth is up with all those videos at the top? It’s like the National Enquirer took over. Last night I randomly went to check the weather and was confronted with images of a python who ate something big, a frostbitten ear, some monster bear that was captured and a sperm whale that “exploded”. Really? Come on. I just want to check the weather and not all this mess!  Not a fan of these videos AT ALL.

~So I placed an order from Erin Condren on 11.8.13 which had an estimated ship date of 11.20.13.  Yeah, guess what?  It hasn’t shipped yet.  WTF?  I thought I’d have that in plenty  of time of for the holidays, but now I am not so sure considering that once it does ship it will take at least a week to make it’s way across the country to me.  I sent them an e-mail asking what was up but haven’t heard back (in all fairness I just sent the e-mail last night).  If you’ve placed an order recently, has it shipped yet?

~And finally, B and I are going to Painting With A Twist on Friday night (big date night for us).  For those who have been, what kind of snacks and drinks do you recommend bringing?  We’ve never been and I don’t know if we will have time to have dinner first.  How long does a painting session last?  Will I be needing to bring something to keep my drinks cold?  Help!

That’s it from here for now! What’s troubling you today?

Spread the love

Christmas decorations…you have to keep them in case you want to change up the color scheme from year to year. At least that’s what I’ve been telling myself. 🙂

    1. Jennifer

That’s what I’ve been telling myself all these years too!

Girl. I went through all my Christmas stuff last year. I am just a “traditional” girl. Meaning reds, golds, greens. I do the family style tree. So I donated all the pinks, purples and random stuff I’d never use and old old stuff. Like I had a door matt that was in awful condition. Lol #hoarder

EC. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. Like worse than Target Online CS. I ordered 2 years ago. Never again. I am always seeing complaints about them. Personally I love my $20 May Book.

    1. Jennifer

Girl I’m a hoarder too! That stuff needs to be relocated to a new home but I just can’t let it go!

    2. Jennifer

And EC shouldn’t even give dates of shipping if they aren’t even close to the actual ship date!!

I think when I went there was ice offered and tables to where you could put food if you were bringing an assortment of stuff. I brought a bottle of wine for myself, but wish I would have brought snacks.

    1. Jennifer

      Oh I will need snacks!!!

I have not done any painting with a twist classes but I have done something like that. I loved them!! I still have all the paintings that I have done. I would say bring a wine that you really like and maybe some nice finger snacks. The classes that I took were about 2 – 4 hours. It depended on what we were painting, like if the paint needed to dry a little between steps. I hope you guys have fun!

    1. Jennifer

OKay, the consensus is wine and snacks. I can handle that!!!

I ordered on the 22nd and it says ship of the 6th. I hope so since its an christmas present for me. I mean really how long can it take to get these things back out.

Decorations – we pretty much keep everything but I’m leaning towards doing a mini purge this year before I put them back in the attic. We have some totes we just keep getting out and just don’t use and haven’t used in I don’t know how long. We’ll see how I do with that though. LOL

    1. Jennifer

It seems to be taking quite a while!!!!!! I’m going on nearly a month. That’s too long IMO!

I’m with you on the mini purge. If I haven’t taken it out in a few years it might be time to say goodbye?.

Painting with a twist is a blast. When I went while visiting a friend in dallas, most people brought wine. You can also bring one of those small hand held coolers for a few brews on ice. It lasts about 2 hours if i remember right. It is pretty fast paced with the painting so I think I only had time to go refil my glass once during the session. It was so much fun and I have a beautiful painting to remember it by! Hope you have a blast.

I will not be able to drink too much or my painting will totally suffer ;).

I ordered too, on the 8th from EC with a shipdate of the 20th and I barely got a email yesterday saying it has been shipped. I was a bit disappointed in their service. I had what I though was a $10 gift card from EC that they themselves sent me saying it was a GC and it looked like a gc but when I went to use it, it was a coupon code so I couldn’t use it on their Black Friday sales. Was disappointed in them I have to say.

    1. Jennifer

Well hopefully mine is SOON. What is the hold up? They could have at least sent out an e-mail saying hey there is a delay!!!

We brought wine (red so it didn’t need to stay cold) but this group behind us brought all these liquors and mixers and had them sticking out of a big tub with ice! I brought some dips & chips, a meat and cheese platter with crackers, and a fruit platter. It was a big group of girls so I did a whole spread but anything easy to snack on is perfect since they will keep going with the instructions so you can’t really stop to eat. I think the total time we were there was like 2 hours because people get rowdy and start having fun as the drinks start flowing so the instructions start to slow down! Our instructors were allowed to drink so we were all having them drink with all of us and take shots it was a blast! =)

    1. Jennifer

So you like have a little table to put your snacks on??

      1. Lynsey M

Yea they are long tables with people down the row and at the end you have some room or small bits of room in between you and B. I tagged you on Instagram and you can kinda see the tables. 🙂

        1. Jennifer

          Yay!! Thanks!

I kept all of our Christmas decorations until we moved last year, then wound up giving half of them away. Of course, now I regret it. Keep them! Just in case….

And just wanted to thank you again for all the BF and CM lists you put together, as I signed up for several! One for me, one for them, one for me….. ha!

    1. Jennifer

That’s the best way to shop though!!!

Hey! So excited to hear about your date night and super impressed that hubs is up for going too! I am part owner/artist/instructor/ blah, blah, blah of a similar company (Mine is called Monet and Mod Podge and we are in NC) and we have painting parties like these 2-3 times a month. I think the little 1-2 serving small boxed wines are excellent (think adult juice boxes) for this sort of thing or canned beer…I know neither sound super classy, but you also won’t accidentally dip your paintbrush in either nor have them break into a mllion glass pieces (all things that have happened more than once at my studio). For food, easy finger foods that require little work on your part once you are there and that you might not mind sharing. Some of our parties bring tons of food and sometimes there is none; but when there is food at all, most peeps share. My biggest advice is to not have a bunch of stuff crowding your space because you will probably have brushes, easel, palettes, water bowls, etc etc on there already. Believe me when I say, space is at a premium and you want to feel comfortable to create. And it sounds as if date night might be dressy, but be warned that if you are using acrylics to paint with, it stains. ..forever! I am sure they will offer smocks but I have seen paint end up in the weirdest of places, especially when the liquid courage is flowing! Most importantly though, have fun, relax and enjoy the process. My usually more relaxed students (your warm up exercise is to take a giant swig of your yummy juice box) are the ones that leave enjoying their paintings and the experience the most. I hope you will post pics on Instagram (I am sweet_bellies there…the recent subbie to and lover of Julibox)! Have fun and my apologies for sounding all super know it all-ish.

    1. Jennifer

I want to come to your studio!!!!!!! If I am ever in NC, I am total coming.

My husband is a super good sport about all that stuff. He wouldn’t care if it were all women. Okay, I am dressing down (I am so messy), bringing a juice box of wine and snacks. Thank you!

Sounds like a fun date night! As far as the decor, I used to keep everything. I do a family tree and a theme tree so I had a large collection of stuff (25 totes of Christmas!). Whe. We moved, I realized how ridiculous it was and I did a major purge. I kept 2 different variations for the theme tree only and purged any decor I did not put up (this was last year). I realized every year, I only put out the favorite items and I had boxes of unused items. It has made my life easier. I don’t have a ton to put out and it goes quicker knowing that in every tote, it is something to be put out. I donated all the items to an organization that gives items to women relocating from a shelter. I am glad someone will use the decor.
I now have 10 bins. Still a lot but between ornaments, lights and wreaths, the boxes get filled quick. It feels so good to purge it all. I encourage you to decorate for this season and then as you pack it all up, purge some things. Tastes change and we always buy new anyways so it all works out somehow!!

    1. Jennifer

They do fill up quick! everything takes up SO much space! I really think I need to purge / donate some things.
