Tuesdays Troubles

It’s time for another edition of Tuesday Troubles. I’ve said it before, but this should be named “things i’m annoyed / confused / want to complain about”, however I couldn’t figure out how to make any of those into a snappy title, so Tuesday Troubles it is. And yes, I do realize that these aren’t true “troubles”. I know that many of these for sure could be defined as first world problems!

~Ugh. Can anyone tell me why stores / manufacturers think it’s an amazing idea to stick stickers right smack in the middle of a mirror, a wine glass, a candle, picture frame, etc? Doesn’t anyone realize how difficult it is to peel off a bunch of stickers from a new set of glassware? Grr. Totally drives me insane.  If you want to sticker something up, at least put stickers that are day to remove on there.

~Santa is coming tonight and he’s bringing / assembling L’s bunk bed.  Which seemed like an excellent idea in theory.  However, L hasn’t been sleeping well lately (he’s sick, WB’s sick, you get the idea), so we are worried he’s going to wake up.  So my new thought is to get him out of the house for a few hours today and have B assemble what he can while we are gone.  The problem with this is that 1) the room it’s going in doesn’t have a lock (it’a going in WB’s room and WB is moving into L’s room) and 2) well, see #1.  Idea, thoughts, suggestions?

~If you have granite countertops, what do you use to clean them?  I have some special granite spray cleaner, but is that my only option?  If so, what brand do you use?  Clue me in on what’s the best here so I don’t have to do a trial and error thing for months.

~My plans to be OMGALLREADY for Christmas totally failed. It’s Christmas Eve and umm, I need to go to the mall!  How did this happen?  How did Christmas sneak up on me.  Please tell me I am not alone.  I’d like to blame it something other than me just not utilizing my time properly, but I know I could have gotten it done sooner.  I know it!

~I have been on a hunt for Minecraft legos these past few days and went so far as to e-mail a few Craigslist sellers who had them.  One would only sell them if I came to her house (#nothappening) and the other insisted that he was taking CALLS only and would not respond to e-mails.  Except he didn’t put his number up.  Umm, okay.  Needless to say I did not get a Minecraft Lego set from Craigslist.  Luckily Amazon came though and I found a set.  But really lady, you want me to come to your house?  Don’t you watch the news?

That’s it from here for now! What’s troubling you today?

Could you have the littles have a sleep over in L’s room.. which will turn into WB’s room? Tell them that they have to stay out of WB’s old room, because your elf is working hard in there, or something! I dont know.. i would see if you can figure out a way to get it set up in wb’s room as best you can and try to keep them out of there! Tell them no santa if they peek 🙂

LOL! If WB was old enough to sleep in a bed I would have had them both sleep in my bed and it would have been so easy. I ended up having L go to bed in my room and then got WB up while we took down and moved his crib into L’s old room. It worked out quite well!

You’re supposed to use a special spray for granite? Whoops. I just use regular cleaners. Is that bad? And don’t feel too bad about not being done Christmas shopping. I just STARTED mine on Sunday. Whoops!

    1. Jennifer

LOL. My neighbor took me to just use soap and water. I like the sounds of that.

The best granite cleaner is one my house cleaner suggested to me. I had been using the expensive fancy stuff but she loves the 409 stone and steel cleaner. It is great. Works on both the granite and stainless appliances. No streaks on either. Most stainless cleaners are almost greasy but this isn’t. I love it and it is only like $3.50 a bottle.

      Perfect!! Thanks!!

I had a similar problem with an ‘off-limits’ room one year, & told the kids that we had set a Santa Trap in there to try & catch him during the night. If the door was opened, it would never work. They were too excited to go near it that night & crazy-excited the next morning to go see if it worked.

lol! That was in there? We decided to wait until tonight. It’s going to be so hard either way. We are going to put L to bed in our room (he loves that) and just move WB when necessary. Wish us luck!

The bedroom situation….have L and WB camp out in another room tonight. Make it a magical Christmas camp out with fort tents made out of sheets and blankets with hot coca and all that fun stuff and have elf on the shelf sitting right by the door to watch out and make sure the boys are on their good behavior and stay in bed until after Santa arrives. Good luck! And Merry Christmas

    1. Jennifer

I think we’re waiting until tonight to do it. We actually need two rooms to do it. It’s going to be a mess. WB still sleeps in his crib so he’s not as easy to put to bed as L.

I use baby oil on those price stickers if they leave any gummy residue on the surface. Or sometimes I simply don’t attempt to scratch the stickers off and rub some baby oil onto the sticker and around and in a few minutes, it peels right off and wipes off easy. 😉

    1. Jennifer

I always think they will peel right off. Never works like that. I just want it to be simple and not require any effort on my part!

As long as the boys don’t need to be in the room you’d assemble it in just tell them there’s unwrapped presents in there. WB would be too little to really understand, but probably L wouldn’t… My mom’s rule was always “if you see a present you don’t get it” to teach us not to snoop. So just play up the “we’ve got presents that aren’t wrapped yet, if you look you don’t get them!”. It works on my 5 year old niece, and my mom used it on 4 kids. (obviously you can’t like, put gifts in the coat closet for a month and have it work. But for short periods of time it’s fine-my mom did it a lot when there were gifts in the back of the car or something)

And if it can’t get assembled for whatever reason you could have Santa just leave a note of “I wasn’t sure where you wanted it/it was too big for my sleigh assembled/it wouldn’t fit under the tree” and put a bow on the boxes

We waited until he went to bed tonight and he slept through it all! Phew!!!!!

Answer to your sticker problem. Use your blow dryer it heats up the sticker making it easy to take off and rarely leaves any of the sticky stuff behind. For your granite I tried a sample from clean happens even the kitchen sink and it worked amazing. I saw that they have something for granite countertops. Also it’s all natural which is always a plus for me.

    1. Jennifer

I will look into that brand! Thanks!

Goo Gone is the best for removing stickers and such from glassware, mirrors, etc.

    1. Jennifer

I really just want them not to put hard to remove stickers on stuff. LOL!! But I will try that too.

I was going to order a glam diva box but, they don’t have a FAQ page or their cancelation policy on their site. This makes me troubled. Lol

    1. Jennifer

I love a good FAQ page. Totally helps me out when I write box descriptions.

So I’m the crazy person that has people come to their house and pick up off craigslist/facebook. I’m sorry but for the little I’m selling things for me driving to meet them somewhere I’d loose all the money. I do sometimes meet them if it works in my schedule but also depends on the vibe I get from them.

Good luck with the beds tonight. N would totally sleep through it but C is a much lighter sleeper. Not sure how they are going to do tonight they are so excited. Keep telling me they are going to bed early so they can get up early but I don’t see that happening. LOL

    1. Jennifer

Oh, I like to meet in the CVS parking lot. Or Starbucks if something needs to be plugged in.

L slept through it ALL. And it was loud. Phew. I hope we sleep in tomorrow too 😉

I use Method’s granite cleaner. And it smells wonderful!

    1. Jennifer

      Thanks!

Hi! Try using Downy to clean your granite countertop.
    It work! =]

    1. Jennifer

OMG really? I am so trying!

Tuesday trouble… I think it has something to do with not having power until 6pm on Christmas. At the earliest! We finally decamped to BIL’s house!

    1. Jennifer

      Oh no!!! What’s going on??

  15. Stephanie

We have gotten a lot of stuff from Craigslist since our baby was born and almost all of them we picked up the things from their home except one. We picked up a dining table and chairs, crib, grocery cart cover, bags of clothes, pack and play etc..

Usually my husband went with me and at the homes usually two people were there. They were always very friendly and welcoming.

    1. Jennifer

I watch the news too much I think!!!! Although I did once drop a table off to someone on Craigslist!

Ugh I had a sticker on the middle of a frame I had to take off today and it was so annoying! I finished my Christmas shopping Sunday but am still waiting for two packages it looks like won’t make it in time. Madewell blames “weather troubles” for a week and a half delay on my package promised to arrive before Christmas. Lame. But in any case, Merry Christmas and good luck with the bunk beds tonight!

    1. Jennifer

Thanks! We finished so early. I was amazed! And thrilled.

  17. Jennifer

I use the 409 Granite and Stainless Steel cleaner too and it works great! I can’t figure out how it works on these two really different materials, but whatever! It’s cheap and effective.

    1. Jennifer

      Good to know!!!
