I saw these wine glass candle holders / snow globes on PopSugar Living’s instagram last week and I knew right away I needed to make them. My mom totally agreed that we needed to try these out, so yesterday morning I went over there are we got our crafting on!
All we had to work from was a picture, but it didn’t seem like it would be too hard to figure out. We’ve made mason jar snow “globes” before (you can see that here) and it was basically the same concept.
It was such an easy project that I have no pictures of the actual process. Seriously it took 5 minutes. But here is what you need:
~Fake Snow ($.25) (one bag of fake snow would last you forever)
~Small fake trees and/or figurines (think Joann Fabric or Michaels) ($1)
~Wine glass ($1) (again Michaels or Joann Fabric will have what you need)
~Small candles ($1.50) (you got it, Michaels or Joann Fabric)
~Cardboard (cut into a circle big enough to fit on the opening of your wine glass)
~Hot Glue Gun
And the steps to make it are as follows:
1). Grab your tree / figurine (my mom used both, I just used trees) and hot glue it in the center of the cardboard.
2). Put a little snow in the wine glass. A little snow goes a long way. You’ll see. Then, with the cardboard & tree covering the opening but not glued on, flip your wine glass over to gauge your snow level. Add or remove as needed.
3). Once that’s all set, put a ring of hot glue around the outer edge of the cardboard circle (or wine glass rim I guess) and then stick it on the top of your snow filled wine glass! Being care not to get burned of course. I flipped mine over right away to better push the cardboard and wine glass together and it worked out fine.
And yeah, that’s IT! We stuck candles on the top and it was done! They worked out to be less than $5/glass (that includes the candles) and were totally fun and easy to make. Plus, I think they are fabulous!
