Celebrate American Made, who kindly sent me this box to review, is a brand new subscription service featuring the best food and handcrafted items every month from around the United States. Each month they will select a different state and allow subscribers to enjoy and discover what the locals love.
Celebrate American Made ships via USPS and arrived very quickly. I love their boxes and think they are totally 100% perfect for their subscription. Everything looked great!
Not only was my impression of the box itself amazing, but once I opened it up, I was even more excited. I didn’t recognize anything which is always fun!
Like I mentioned before, every month Celebrate American Made will feature a new state and will showcase items from small-busiensses located in that state for subscribers to enjoy. The January 2014 Celebrate American Made state was Virginia and included the following items:
~Route 11 Yukon Gold Potato Chips: B gobbled these up in about two seconds and said they were delicious. He has good taste, so I’d say they are pretty good.
~Savannah Grace Cheese Straws: We both sampled these and liked, but didn’t love them. We thought they needed something else. I was looking at their site though and saw that the offer a Rosemary Cheese flavor and that may be just want they need! Hopefully I can find these somewhere local because I do love cheese straws!
~Virginia Chutney Sofi Award Winning Chutney: They recommend using this as a glaze for a pork roast. We haven’t gotten a chance to test it, but that’s probably exactly what we will do. I wonder if I can somehow use this in my crockpot with a roast. Anyone?
~Brigit True Organics Lip Balm: Yummy smelling and made my lips feel great! I love all kind of lip balms, chopsticks, lip glosses, etc. so it’s no secret I like this one too!
~Montebello Kitchens Peanut Soup: I haven’t made this yet and I honestly can say that I have never had peanut soup before. I’m not overly excited by this, but heck, I will try it out. B’s not too sure either, but I know he’s also curious!
~Graves Mountain Apple Butter: I think B and I both love Apple Butter so it was a no brainer that we both enjoyed this one. We do need to step up our peanut / apple / other butter eating though because we are accumulating quite a collection!
~Natalie Kay Letterpress Print: ‘Talitha koum’, which translates as, ‘Little girl, I say to you, get up.’ and was printed by the designer to help support a friend who was injured in a car accident (all proceeds from the print go to her family). I don’t know what I will do with the print, but I love the cause!
~Virginia Information: The box also included various pamphlets and brochures about other fabulous Virginia companies. If you want to learn more about products that were in this box or about any of their producers, you can pop over here or click on the “These United States” tab to see what States have been featured so far and what has been included.
I didn’t do a cost breakdown on this one (sometimes it’s just too difficult with lots of local producers), but I am for sure keeping my eye on this one and I know I am totally subscribing when they get to my state (Michigan). I don’t know exactly what order they go in, but the website says that January – Virginia, February – Arizona and March – Colorado!
