January 2014 Love With Food

Yay!  My January 2014 Love With Food box arrived yesterday and I’d been waiting on this one to appear!  They usually ship around the 10th of the month, but shipments were delayed this month due to the weather so the wait was a little longer.

The Box

Love With Food ships via DHL Global Mail (starts out as DHL ends up being delivered by the Post Office) and took about 6 days to arrive this month.  In comparison it took 11 days last month.  You just never know with DHL.

First Look

I’d seem a picture or two of the January box, but I couldn’t recall specifics of it.  I opened this yesterday during nap time (can I just say that I love that my mail is arriving before nap time now so I can open and take pictures during WB’s nap?) and was starving so it was perfect timing in more ways than one.

The Information Card

The January 2014 Love With Food theme is “Wake Up to the New Year!” and includes items to help you work on “Snacking Smart, Doing Good” in the new year.  Here’s what was included:

~Banana Split Baby Mama Drama from Mama’s Magic Mix:  This is a mixture of freeze dried fruit and nuts.  Not my favorite kind of snack, but someone here will certainly enjoy it.  And I love the packaging.

~Pretzo Change-O and Original Milk Chocolate Squares from Jer’s Chocolates: Umm, yeah.  These are amazing.  I ate the Pretzo Change-O yesterday loved every second of it.

~Chocolate Chip Cookies from Home Free: These are nut-free and gluten-free and do not contain eggs or dairy, but I just tasted yummy chocolate chip cookies.  I would never have guessed that they were “free from” all that stuff.  I already ordered more.

~Superfood Chews from Lovely Candies:  These are chewier than a Starburst, but not as chewy as a Now N Later.  Good, but I’d never want to entire an entire row of these like I would want to with Starburst.

~Columbia Supremo from Caffe Borsa: Quite interesting.  You make the coffee right in the bag (in another coffee cup) and just add hot water.  I am going to have B try this and compare to coffee that comes in an MRE!  I wonder if it’s similar?

~Organic Berry Berry Granola Bar from Annie’s Homegrown: This was eaten by B after work last night and he liked it, but I don’t think he loved it.  Still, I would buy more for the kids.  It’d be a great snack for L at school.  Sort of related, but why does Annie’s (or any company really) make a mixed box of all their granola bar flavors?  I want to try all the flavors before I settle on a favorite!

~Lightly Salted Almonds from Blue Diamond Almonds: A B snack for sure.  I’d give them to L for school, but it’s a nut free zone.  Some people bring them for lunch, but it makes me nervous for the kids with allergies so I avoid them all together for him!

~Multi-Grain Sea Salt Skinny Sticks from Hi I’m Skinny: Delicious.  I have never seen these before or heard of this brand, but I need more.  I looked online and it appears they sell them at Meijer (if you aren’t a Midwesterner, it’s like a Super WalMart) and I am so going there to get them!  Love.

~Orange Fruit Bar from Oskri: Oops!  I forgot about this one.  I opened it up and thought no way.  It looks like the inside of a fig newton.  Except it’s a little more dense.  But it’s not bad.  I didn’t really taste too much orange in it, but I can’t figure out what exactly it did taste like!

The verdict? I totally loved this month.  I discovered some new favorites (Jer-O Pretzo Change-O and Sea Salt Skinny Sticks) and got to try a bunch of new things.  What’d you think of this month?  Did anyone get the Deluxe Box? Any additional items in that one?

If you are interested in signing up click here.  Subscriptions (for a regular box) are $12/month, but you can use the code “FB7OFF″ to get your first box for only $5.  I can’t locate any coupon codes for the Deluxe Box (it’s $19.95/month and contains 16-2o items), but, as always, I will keep my eyes open for one and will update if I hear anything!
