Treatsie, who kindly sent me this box to review, is a monthly artisan sweets subscription box service. Each box, which is $19.95/month ($15 + $4.95 shipping and handling) includes approximately 8 – 9 items of amazing artisan sweets from 3 – 4 small, independent vendors, which change every month.

Treatsie ships via USPS Priority Mail in a padded flat rate envelope and took two days to arrive.

The Box

Since it’s winter (and quite chilly here) there were no cold packs or anything in my box. They do use them in the summer months though! My items arrived cold, but not frozen and after warming up for a bit, were perfect.

First Look

Treatsie doesn’t have an information card, rather they direct you – via a general card that appears in the box, to their website to learn more about the products included.   Here is what was in the January 2014 Treatsie box:

~Brittle Bothers Gourmet Peanut Brittle ($4): Neither B nor I love peanut brittle, but we both agreed that this was quite good.  And we will totally finish up the package ;).  Brittle Brothers is located in Nashville, TN and all started with an old family recipe.  And now they are in gourmet shops, Whole Foods and Fresh Markets throughout the country!

~Avenue Sweets Expresso Caramel and Pumpkin Spice Caramel ($1.25):  I tasted these blind to see if I could figure out what the flavors were!  I guessed the expresso (well I thought coffee), but the pumpkin had me guessing!  Knowing now, I can totally see the pumpkin spice.

Avenue Sweets Caramels

~Lillie Belle Lavender Sea Salt Caramels ($9): Delicious!  We loved these and had to stop ourselves from eating the whole box!  Lillie Belle is located in Oregon and started out at a local Farmer’s Market.  They now produce over 20,000 pounds of chocolate a year!  That’s a lot of chocolate!

~popbar Hot Chocolate on a Stick ($11): LOVE THESE!  You stick them in steamed milk and they melt into fabulous hot chocolate.  I’ve had these before and was thrilled to see these in this box!  What I didn’t know about popbar was that they have a location in NYC where they sell not only hot chocolate on a stick, but also Sorbet, Gelato and Yogurt, all on a stick that can be dipped and topped however you like.  I want to go!

All totaled I came up with a value of $25.25 for the January 2014 Treatsie box!  I (well we) loved trying all of the fun chocolates in this box and at $19.95/month, it’s a great value as well.  Other than the popbar I hadn’t heard of any of the other brands in the box and thought it was fun to discover them and read about how they started (I love those kinds of stories ;).

Treatsie has a one month taster box with 2-3 items for $5 and free shipping. I’m trying to decide which one to do. The January box looks amazing. I have not seen any of those products. I am awe over the popbars. I have never seen anything like that.

    1. Jennifer

I saw that! I’d love to know what is in that one!

I had to cancel them, I just wasn’t seeing the value in it. In the summer they sent mostly hard candies and taffy, sorry but not worth it. Plus they send out caramel almost every month which is pretty cheap and a bit easy to make or buy yourself. One month I got a box of mostly lollipops lol

I need to try them in the summer!

  4. Jill

I got this months box too but I only got two popbars and no caramels. Is it possible they give reviewers a better box?

    1. Jennifer

Ohhh, I don’t know but you should e-mail them and see??? I hope not!

      Hey Jill,
The box you received is our old box size. You should have received a card explaining that we heard from subscribers that they would like more sweets in the box. So we moved the box to $19.95 and included 25% more candy. But we didn’t want to force subscribers on the on old version to upgrade. If you would like to upgrade to get more sweets, just cancel your subscription and then sign back up through the join page. If you’re going to please contact us first, as we offered existing subscribers $10 off the first upgraded box and can give you coupon code. Hope this helps.

Just curious, my cousin gave me a gift of 3 months. I received January’s and have not received February’s yet. I know there is 4 more days of this month but then we are going into March when the last one will be coming.

    1. Jennifer

I want to say I just recently saw a Feb. box somewhere so hopefully it’s on it’s way!

What is their cancellation policy? Can I do it on my own, or do I need to email them?

    1. Jennifer

      You can cancel online.
