Hello Fresh, who kindly sent me this box to review, is a weekly meal subscription service. They sent you all the ingredients you need to make three meals including the meats, vegetables and all condiments, etc. You can opt for the Classic Box which begins at $69/week (or $11.50/meal) or the Veggie Box which begins at $59/week ($9.83/meal).

First Look

Since I received this box to review I had no idea what meals were included.  B and I are up for anything though, so it was a fun surprise!  You can pick your meals online (I think there are 5 or 6 weekly to select from).  Here is what was included this week:

~Sesame Crusted Tuna: Before the box arrived we got an e-mail from Hello Fresh saying that the tuna portion on this one was too small and they’d be issuing a $15 credit on everyone’s account as a result.  B and I picked up an extra tuna steak in advance of making this, so we were set. I think if I subscribed to this box I would have preferred a refund of $5 or $10 instead of a $15 credit which would pay for the replacement steak.  However, the recipe was excellent and B and I both loved it.  We’ll make this again.

~Peppercorn Steak with Rosemary Potatoes and Broccoli: This had a bit of a kick to it which I wasn’t totally expecting.  I should have been, but I wasn’t.  I think next time we’ll use less peppercorns, but this was also quite good.  And I really like the steak.

~Spicy Noodles with Chicken and Peppers: Now I would never order something like this at a restaurant.  Ever. I would have expected it to be too spicy, too “not me”.  But I loved it.  B did too and he didn’t expect to be a fan either.  As we were eating it, he even commented on how good it was.

Do you subscribe to HelloFresh?  What do you think of the service?  We love all of our meal subscription boxes and they so have expanded our food horizons.  I have tried more things in the last year from these boxes than I have tried in my entire life.

If you don’t subscribe and want to sign up, click here and don’t forget to use coupon code “RAMBLINGS2014” to get $25 off your first box.  That would bring the cost of the box down to $44 for the Classic Box, which works out to about $7.33/meal!
