I really wanted to review the Plated we received on Friday, however, I realized that I didn’t take any pictures of the unboxing (you can see B’s pictures of the meals on his Instgram). And there’s obviously no way to recreate that, so I decided to post a review on a box we received a few weeks ago instead. I haven’t posted a Plated review in a while and I figured it was time.
Plated is a weekly meal subscription delivery service. They send you all the ingredients you need to prepare meals of your choosing (I believe that the menu has 7 or 8 weekly options). You can opt for their Membership option which is less expensive, but auto-subscribes you, or you can just opt to pay as you go.
Plated ships via FedEx and now delivers twice a week to my area. I can select to receive a box on Tuesday or Friday. The menus are generally the same, but I love to have the option to select the day of the week I receive it. They also allow you to select your menu up to 3 weeks in advance now which is also fabulous. I do a bunch at once and then don’t have to think about it for a few weeks.
As usual everything was packaged nicely and arrived chilled. I am curious to see if they will move back to the thicker packaging once the weather starts to warm up. I know that the thinner package is way more environmentally friendly, but I just don’t know how it would do in the heat. Anyway, here are the two meals we selected:
~Chicken Fricassee with Gnocchi and Artichokes: I liked almost everything about this meal. I would have preferred that the used chicken breasts instead of chicken legs in this because I think it would have been less messy, but it was all really really good. WB really really liked the sauce that this was in and we couldn’t get it in his mouth fast enough. That boy has the oddest preferences. He’s not even two and likes salads and chopped up raw vegetables, beef jerky, guacamole, etc. Anything you think would be off for a baby to like, he likes.
~Meatloaf with Brussels Sprouts and Potatoes: I don’t love meatloaf and couldn’t even tell you the last time I had it, but I knew B would like this one, so I went for it. I think maybe it’s the baked ketchup on it that gets me? I avoided that and actually thought this was pretty good. Do not tell my mom though or she’ll make meatloaf next time we come to dinner! I think it’s more of a once a year kind of meal for me ;).
Have you gotten Plated recently? What meals did you pick anyhow was it? If you are interested in giving it a try or want to learn more, click here to try two free plates (new customers only). Basically you’ll get 4 plates for the price of 2 ($30)!! That’s 4 meals/plates for $30, which is less than $8/plate. And like I said, you can now see the menu a few weeks in advance, so if you aren’t loving this weeks options, you can look ahead and see if any of those are more to your liking!
Plated On Shark Tank Friday
The plating and the presentation of the Chicken Fricassee looks so professional! I had to do a double take when I saw it.
B likes to make it look like the picture!
I discovered recently my 2 year old also Loves Guacamole, which she calls “Moley”
haha toddlers are weird. 🙂
Ha!!!
I considered Plated and it sure looks good here. Ultimately, I went with Hello Fresh though because for the three-meal package you can swap out from among five dinners and I like having that choice. (Here’s a Hello Fresh discount code if anyone wants to try it: TSEQRL). But Plated’s meatloaf with Brussels sprouts and gnocchi with artichokes above – mmmmmm. Beautiful comfort food with an upscale twist!!!
I was anxious to try Plated after seeing it on Shark Tank but after looking through the options and seeing the calorie counts, I’m out.
