Try The World, who kindly sent me this box to review, is a bi-monthly subscription box that allows you to try products from around the world without leaving your house. Their team of travelers and local experts curates a collection of products that best represent each country / city. The first box starts in Paris and then boxes move to Toyoko, Rio and other cities around the globe. Boxes include not only delicious gourmet finds but also a companion on the history of the products and how to use them.
My Try the World box shipped via UPS, however, I am not sure if that this their normal means of shipment or not? As of right now, Try the World ships to the United States and Canada, but noted that future expansion is planned.
Inside the outer shipping box is the gorgeous Try The World gift box.
I had received the Mini Paris box a few months ago and thought it was cool, but I was even more excited to check out the full sized box.
Try the World sends out detailed cards with lots of product information, including how to use the products along with a history behind them. Here is what was included in the box:
~Alain Milliat Orlienas Jams: These were delicious last time and I suspect that they will be delicious again. I am guessing B will be taking these to work with him for breakfasts he has there!
~Chabert & Guillot Nougat: I am not exactly sure what I think of these. They look like something I’d hate, but I don’t hate them at all. In fact, I kind of like them. I took one bite and thought that’s enough, but then I wanted more. If I am ever in Paris again (and I hope to be), I will try and find these guys!
~La Palais Des Thes Fine Teas: Now I am not a tea lover, but my cousin who went to France last summer (and probably wishes she is still there) will be over the moon for these! I cannot wait to include these in her next tea box!
~Les Confitures A L’Ancienne Hot Chocolate Powder: Love this hot chocolate! I have received it a few times in a few boxes and I always enjoy it. It feels like such a treat!
~Madame Goudig Salted Butter Caramels: I cannot find these online, but trust me when I tell you they are AMAZING! So so good. The recipe dates back to 1946 and I believe they also come in other flavors which I would love to try.
~Clement Faugier Chestnut Spread: I was a tad hesitant on this one at first, but it’s not bad. It’s suggested to be used on cookies, toast or a croissant or even eaten alone. I tried a bit of it alone, but I would love to try it on a croissant.
~Le Saunier De Camargue Fleur de Sel: B, who it turns out will be home much earlier than I expected today, is going to be thrilled with this! He loved trying all sorts of new salts to cook with and this one, which is naturally cultivated in the South French coastal area, will be no exception!
~The Cards: As I mentioned, in additional to the individual information cards (seem below), the Try the World box also includes french movie ideas, playlists and some tips if you happen to visit Paris. If you do happen to visit Paris, please have a Croque-Madame for me!
I didn’t do a cost breakdown on this Try the World box because it would have been too difficult to do with the exchange rates and not being able to find everything online. The box itself is $45/month and if you order now, your journey will begin with the Paris box which ships at the end of March!
What do you think of Try the World? If you are interested in subscribing or just want to learn more, click here and use coupon code “MOM10” (expires on 4/30/14) to save $10 off your first box! I got this box yesterday. I loved the nougat! I haven’t tried any of the other foods yet, but I will! Can’t wait for my Japan box!
I was surprised about how good it was!
That’s the only brand of sea salt I use and it’s the best!
B is excited!
This is so exciting! I feel like I was actually wondering recently if a box like this existed. I think I would love it even more if it had not just food products, but other things like health/beauty/home stuff.
Oh I totally agree!!!
What a wonderful box! A little expensive for me, so fingers crossed I can win one!
Good luck!!
I was all set to try out the Paris box but they are sold out. Not sure if I am ready for the 3 city tour. Wish they had a discount going.
I didn’t realize they were sold out the single Paris one! That’s too bad.
They brought the deal back! You can buy just the Paris box for $22.50 and I think there is a 20% off code somewhere out there for Gilt as well. http://www.giltcity.com/newyork/trytheworldaug
I know they aren’t the same flavor but I found these!

Cute box!! I wish I had th money for boxes, so ill live through you!
I think those look good too!
I think a Paris box needs only four things: wine, coffee, chocolate, cheese. The four food groups. 😉
LOVE! I love it! Can we include bread in there somewhere??
OMG the Caramels are AMAZING and I can’t find them to buy other than a wholesaler – I have two left. I have a friend in Paris right now gonna ask her to look for them.
You’re right the products are great, their customer service and common practice of deleting negative and/or less than favorable comments is not so great. In my experience, you need to be careful when dealing with this company!
Completely agree. I had a horrible experience with this company. They deleted my negative feedback and I never received my box. Wish my experience had been a positive one.
This happens repeatedly. Almost every positive review was received free. It’s not right that bloggers don’t know this because we have an obligation to our readers to let them know about these kinds of unethical practices.
Wow, good to know! I see negative comments on products all the time on amazon, but you can separate the good companies from the bad by the way they respond. The fact that they delete negative comments rather than responding appropriately says a lot about them.
this is good !! I love this!
products are organic, you can cook with this, eat it raw too!
I can wait to get my Venice box this month!!
I ordered a Try the World box for Valentines Day so my girlfriend wouldn’t put me in the dog house, and she loved it. The products were beautiful, unique, and resonated with the county. We were both really intrigued by the selection and cannot wait to order more products and receive another box.
After receiving a few boxes, I decided it wasn’t for me. While it’s a cool concept, the price isn’t justified, especially knowing that the intern-filled Try the World office chomps on boatloads of this stuff (which is why I’m assuming this must not cost them WAY less than what they’re charging.) The wasteful (and extremely rude) office culture, combined with the fact that the products themselves, if not better alternatives, are readily available online turned me off from the subscription. I mean, c’mon, I can go to a franchised gelato place a block away from where I live and buy the stuff sent in the last Italy box. Not exactly “hard to find.”
I just signed up, I hope I get similar items!
I cancelled my subscription over a month ago! Please stop sending me the try the world boxes, and my cancelation was excepted by try the world, now today I recived an email dtating that my Paris Try The World box has been shipped! Please cancel my order and subscription today, and also send a phone number so I can speek to someone to make this final, ths oroduct is way too expensive for what gets sent in your cute little boxes, stop taking money from my account, and cancel any further shippments!
You need to e-mail Try the World directly. I just review subscription boxes and am not in any way related to Try the World.
