April 2014 Escape Monthly - Mexico
April 2014 Escape Monthly – Mexico

As if today wasn’t fabulous enough already (B’s home, the weather is amazing, I went to the mall alone, the kids are happy, etc.), I also received a bunch of amazing packages, including my April 2014 Escape Monthly. Of all the packages I received today, I went for this one first ;).

If you aren’t familiar with them, Escape Monthly, which is $49.95/month is a monthly vacation in a box. Each month you will discover products from a different location. Products consist off local and destination-inspired foods, relaxation and beauty essentials, and the highest quality products that bring the life of the destination right to you.

The Box

This month’s Escape Monthly shipped via USPS Priority Mail. Last month’s arrived via FedEx. I don’t know if it depends on the contents how the packages shipped or what, but it arrived very quickly as I just received the tracking for this one on Friday. Also, this box was super heavy which had me very excited to dig in.

First Look

Everything was packaged very securely and I quickly realized why the box was so heavy.  It had to glass drinks in it!  They are much braver than I am as I would have been freaking out they would have broken in shipment.  But they didn’t break!

The Information Card

The April 2014 Escape Monthly theme is Mexico and the box includes products that capture Mexico’s unique spirit.  Items included are meant to indulge your sweet tooth and let the tastes and sensations take you on a journey far from home.  Here is what was included:

~Ixtapa & Zihuatanejo Moon Travel Guide ($17.99):  Someone please please invite me on a vacation so I can use this guide book!   Zihuatanejo is on my “to visit” list and I hope to run into Andy Dufresne down there, just relaxing on the beach (that’s a Shawshank reference if you have no idea what I am talking about).

Ixtapa & Zihuatanejo Travel Guide

~Mundet Green Apple & Sangria Senorial Soda ($4): While I was hoping for some Mexican beer or even some tequila, I knew that most likely would not be happening!  I suppose Mexican soda will work instead.  I would love nothing more than to pair these with some street tacos, but I suppose B and I will have to just do Taco Tuesday in the backyard and pretend!

Mundet Green Apple & Sangria Senorial Soda

~Ayate Fiber Exfoliation Cloth ($6.81): This is 100% natural agave fiber, quick drying and mold resisting.  I almost want to toss what I am currently using (which I just got) so I can test this out.  If I look at it long enough, it may just happen.

Ayate Fiber Exfoliation Cloth

~Pacifica Mexican Cocoa Candle ($6):  Ahhh! I love this brand and I have never tried this scent.  It’s fabulous though and is a perfect fit for this box!

Pacifica Mexican Cocoa Candle

~Fusion Gourmet Habanero Salt ($5): This is the highest-quality habanero sea-salt out there and I am just thinking about whatever fabulous Mexican dish B is going to make with this makes me hungry.

Fusion Gourmet Habanero Salt

~Kopali Organic Mango ($4.79): I am not a huge fan of these, but maybe the kids will be? I really do like mangos, but dried mangos, not so much.

Kopali Organic Mango

~Mexican Candy ($4): I will NOT be trying that Pulparindo candy again.  No no no.  Once was enough! LOL!  I am going to force my brother to try it.  And of course L will get the “L” candy since that’s his name ;).

Mexican Candy

All totaled I came up with a value of $48.59 for the April 2014 Escape Monthly Mexico box.  I pay $39.95/month for my subscription since I utilized the 20% off “lifetime” coupon code they offer.  I don’t know that this box made me feel like I was on vacation in Mexico, but it made me want to book a vacation to Mexico ASAP!!!!! Escape Monthly should partner with a travel agency so I can make use of my guide book in person.

What do you think of Escape Monthly?  If you are interested in subscribing or just want to learn more, click here.  You can use the code “MYESCAPE” to score 20% off, not only your first box, but all your other boxes for the life of your subscription.  That gets you a discount of $10/month which is awesome.  The May Escape Monthly destination is “California” and includes beauty products and treats from all over the state.  They just announced on Facebook tonight that everyone will be receiving a Juice Beauty‘s luxurious Green Apple Age Defy Hand Cream (a $12 value) in the May box and are calling it their most “luxurious” box ever!  Can’t wait!
