I Heart MD
Cost: $30/month.
Ships To: United States
iHeartMD, who kindly sent me this box to review, is a monthly healthstyle (health + lifestyle) subscription box service that curates the best and latest heart healthy ingredients, products, and information on the market, guided by the principles of the Mediterranean lifestyle and its eating habits.
iHeartMD ships via USPS Priority Mail and took just a few days to arrive. I can’t seem to access this FAQ (site glitch maybe) so I am not 100% sure when they ship each month.
Inside the outer iHeartMD box is the real box with the contents.
I thought this first look was a great one! I saw some items I recognized and some that I didn’t.
The April 2014 iHeartMD theme was “Spring has Sprung” and includes items to help you get your body revved up. Here is what was inside:
~Tiesta Tea Nutty Almond Cream ($4.99): There is no proven evidence that tea helps with heart help, however, if it helps you relax and de-stress, that can’t be a bad thing.
~Clean, Lean and Sexy Air Popped Popcorn ($3): This is a healthy option to your traditional movie popcorn. It’s certainly not the same, but it’s not suppose to be either. It’s good though.
~Just Strawberries ($4.99): Both of my kids love these and I suppose I should too because the information card says that research has shown that “anthocyanin-rich foods” (such as strawberries may reduce the risk of heart attack in predominately young and middle-aged women.
~Divine 70% Dark Chocolate ($1.99): Delicious! If dark chocolate is as good for you as they say it is, I should be very healthy ;).
~Mamma Chia Squeeze, Blackberry Bliss ($1.69): I personally just can’t get on the pouch food trend. In a bowl with a spoon I liked this. Straight from the pouch, not so much.
~Wild Garden Traditional Hummus Dip ($2): I love hummus! So so good. I am guessing the healthy way to have this would be with carrots or something along those lines, but I can’t help it, I like it with pita chips.
~Gold’s Gym Speed Jump Rope 9″ ($6.99): B and I have big plans to start working out this summer (as soon as he gets out of school really), so we’ll be using this for sure.
All totaled I came up with a value of $25.65 for the April 2014 iHeartMD box. The box is $30/month, but reduces to $24/month if you opt for a 12-month subscription. I still think the price point on this one is a tad high, but the curation is very nice for someone who is trying to be more heart healthy!
