Julep
Cost: $19.99/month (Maven boxes) / $74.99 (Full Collection)
Ships To: United States, United States Minor Outlying Islands, and Canada.
It’s a good thing that B wasn’t home when the mail came today because he so would have had something to say about all this nail polish from my April Julep Box! I couldn’t help myself and opted for the “Ultimate Upgrade” this month. How could I resist these colors? I couldn’t!
If you aren’t familiar, Julep is a monthly nail polish subscription service. It’s $19.99/month and each box features over $40 worth of never-before-released polishes, cutting edge treatments and cult favorites. You can also opt for the “Full Collection” which is an additional $35 or the “Ultimate Upgrade” which is an additional $55. As I mentioned I opted for the Ultimate Upgrade, so that’s what you will se below.
Julep ships via USPS. Regular Maven boxes ship via USPS First Class Mail and upgraded collections ship via USPS Priority Mail. Both tend to arrive quite quickly, so you can’t go wrong.
Loved the first look! Everything was so bright and pretty and reminded me of the beach and being on vacation.
The April 2014 Julep theme was “The Vivid Collection” and included the following items:
~Phoebe (Boho Glam) ($14 / $11.20): Phoebe is a vibrant jungle metallic. I love this combo together and may have to think up something so that I can wear them all at the same time. They remind mind of Mardi Gras really. I’ll have to remember that for next year!
~Sunny (Boho Glam) ($14 / $11.20): Sunny is an overexposed yellow chrome. I have so many yellow polishes, but this may be my new favorite. Also, I would never do yellow on my fingernails, but toes for sure.
~Kayla (Bombshell) ($14 / $11.20): Kayla is an electric iris sheer with violet sheen and is one of my favorites. I am much more of a fan of shimmers than I am of mattes and this has a great shimmer.
~Tatum (Bombshell) ($14 / $11.20): Tatum is a neon chartreuse chrome. I don’t think I have a green this pretty (or bright) so this is a win!
~Caitlin (Classic with a Twist) ($14 / $11.20): Caitlin is a shocking hibiscus with gold shimmer. And it’s even better in person. Can you go wrong with hot pink polish on your toes in the summer? I don’t think so!
~Mariska (Classic with a Twist) ($14 / $11.20): Mariska is a juicy tangerine shimmer and is another one of my favorites from this bunch!
~Flora (It Girl) ($14 / $11.20): Flora is an exotic dragonfruit with blue shimmer. You can’t see the blue in this picture, but it’s there. Small little blue sparkly flecks! Unexpected, but in a good way.
~Bailey (It Girl) ($14 / $11.20): Bailey is a hyped cobalt sheer and I swear I have this exact same Julep color. I need to color coordinate my polishes and check this out. I wish they numbered them (or something) so it’d be easier to coordinate.
~Maren (It Girl) ($14 / $11.20): Maren is an electric bubblegum sheer with blue sheen. It’s not as bright as I would have liked, but I’ll still use it.
Add On:
~Felicia (It Girl) ($14 / $11.20): Not only did I get the Ultimate Upgrade, but I also got an add-on. Oops ;). Felicia is a black speckled mint crème and every time there is a special finish or a polish with a silver cap, I must get it. Plus this reminded me of mint chocolate chip ice cream. You get 3 add-on spaces every month and there is fairly good selection of items, but I only went for one this month.
~Glow Pore Minimizing Blush (Peach Bellini) ($24 / $19.20): This is suppose to “diffuse the appearance of pores and imperfections” and while I am not sure it did that, I really like the color and think it went on nicely.
~Glow Pore Minimizing Bronzer (Light Golden Bronze) ($28 / $22.40): I have some darker bronzers but I needed something a bit lighter for Spring. This is actually even lighter than my picture shows. It looks dark here.
~Brush Up Duo (Blush Brush & Bronzer Brush) ($52 / $41.60): One of the main reasons I went for the upgrade was for both brushes. I needed some new ones and really wasn’t sure what to get. This kind of solved that problem. And what’s better is that they are labeled!
And just so you can see why I couldn’t resist the entire collection, here it is again. So so so pretty.
All totaled I came up with a value of $230 (or $184 using Maven pricing and neither include the add-on I received) and was totally happy with my haul! The Ultimate Upgrade box was $74.99, which works out to $5.77/item. That’s a great deal! I swear I am not upgrading again next month, but this month was so me that I just had too!
