First Look

I hadn’t seen any spoilers for this month’s box yet, so I was going in totally blind!  I had no idea what the theme was, what any of the items in the box were, etc.  It looked cute though!

The Information Card

The April 2014 Love With Food theme was “Flower Power” and included flower inspired treats to help you stop and smell the roses and enjoy the Spring thaw.  Here is what was included:

~Orchard Blend by Sensible Foods:  Not my favorite dried fruit I have ever tried, but I really liked that it was crunchy.  I am not overly fond of soggy dried fruit.

~Heart-tee by Wild Hibiscus Flower Co.: This tea is rumored to lower anxiety and stress and is a “tangy deep-red floral tea”.  If any tea sounds good, it’s this one.  I am going to try it and see what I think.

~Creamed Honey with Chocolate Mint by Vintage Bee: This is interesting.  I can’t really see having chocolate mint honey alone as a snack, but on a bagel on something, now we’re talking.  It really does taste like chocolate mint.

~Almonds with Cranberries, Honey & Sea Salt by Sahale Snacks: Totally a B item.  These will make a great snack when he’s out working on his car.

~Popcorn by Crave Canyon:  I don’t know if other flavors were sent out, we got the Aged White Cheddar & Hatch Green Chile flavor and my goodness they have a kick to them.  I was not expecting that!  Very flavorful and I would love to try out the other flavors.

~Honey Waffle by Meli: This is a honey sandwiched between crispy waffles.  I am looking forward to having a this with a cup of coffee in the morning!

~Fiordifrutta Organic Fruit Spread by Rigoni Di Asiago:  I think the packaging on this is so cute! Our sample is apricot and I know that L will love it on toast.  He loves little spreads and that kind of thing.

~Organic Energy by Bumble Bee: I feel like I have tried this before?  It’s not bad but it reminds me of birdseed.  LOL.  That’s what it looks like.  It’s be better with chocolate drizzled on the top, but what wouldn’t be?

I wonder where you can get more??

I got the same box on Saturday. That was the perfect time for me since we had been at a volleyball tournament all day and all I had eaten was a soft pretzel. I literally grazed through most of the box in about 2 hours. You are right the popcorn did have quite a kick. I also liked the dried fruit and the Bumble Bar. I plan on finding where I can get those almonds because they were fantastic. The next morning my daughter and I had the apricot spread on an English muffin as we ran out for yet another day of volleyball. All that is left is a lonely chocolate mint and the tea which I will probably enjoy on Friday morning as I have the day off. I wish I had ordered two of these boxes, we (Ok, I) really liked everything.

Did you get the same flavor popcorn? I was like I don’t like this. And then I ate half the bag and realize oh yeah, maybe I do like it 😉

      1. Ruth Gilbert

I did get the same flavor of popcorn, and really wasn’t ready for the kick. It was tasty though.

    1. Jennifer

      Ohhh, thanks!

  3. Iris

I received the same box too. 🙂

LOL, I love your description of the energy bar as birdseed. XDD I haven’t tried that particular item yet, but now I’m expecting it to taste interesting. The honey waffle was amazing though!! It was the first thing I tried. 😀

    1. Jennifer

Ha! That’s exactly what it looks like. It’s not awful. But that;s what it reminds me of.

We got our box yesterday, and although we have the deluxe box so we got more than one of some items, they didn’t vary the flavors, so both of our jams were the apricot, and both popcorns were the kettle corn with anise. We actually got enough of the waffle cookies so that we could each have two, and we LOVED them. Such a great honey taste. It made me feel like Pooh bear.

Frankly, I’m relieved that we didn’t get the Hatch chile popcorn. Ooh, we also got a couple of bags of pomegranate potato chips. An odd combination, hmm? We haven’t tried anything in the box yet except for the waffle cookies, but we’ll get there.

    1. Beth

Oops, I forgot we got a packet of coconut oil too.

    2. Jennifer

The popcorn was something else. So unexpected! Those pomegranate chips sound interesting!

  5. Glenda

I immediately ordered more of those Honey Waffles – loved them!

    1. Jennifer

      So good!

I finally got this box, was waiting since February! We are peanut free, and unfortunately some items are from factories that ‘may cross contaminate’. http://wp.me/p4lGPl-97 I took pictures of the nutrition labels too!

    1. Jennifer

Ohh, it must be hard to find a snack box with no peanut contamination??

  7. Karsen

OMG lol I thought the same thing about that bar! Anyways I loved the waffle thing and dried fruit. Popcorn was tasty.. I gave those nuts to my mom and she said you can get them at 7/11! Wow. The chocolate mint thing was actually good. The jam or whatever… I don’t know. And the tea was good. Over all a fantastic box for me!
