Coupon Code: “ramblings20” to save 20% off your first box.
PetBox, who kindly sent me this box to review, is a monthly subscription box for pets (dogs or cats) that allows you to select what items you wish to receive in your box! They are the only box (I believe) out there that allows you to do this. You get six “points” to spend to build your box with whatever you choose. You can also opt for a “Surprise Me” box in which PetBox will hand-select your items for you. You can opt for a dog box, a cat box, or a combination dog / cat box.
My April PetBox shipped via FedEx Ground, however, I have also received them via USPS Priority Mail, so I am not totally sure how they ship. If you subscribed this month let me know how yours came okay?
Since my box is sent for review purposes, I receive the “Surprise Me” option which I would probably opt for either way! Last month I added the amount of credits I received in my box and it was more than they six credits allotted if you pick your own items. PetBox indicated that the amount of “points” included in the Surprise box option depends on their inventory for the month.
PetBox doesn’t include a true information card. Rather they have a general card about PetBox. We received the following in your April 2014 PetBox:
~Life is Pawfect Book (1 point) ($3.39): You know who thinks this book is amazing? WB! DOGGIES! Doggies dressed in all sorts of silly outfits. He loves it. And L and I got a kick out of it as well.
~Tino’s Couture Bowtie (2 points) ($9.99): Ha! I love this and put it on Baxter right away. And Baxter loves it. He’s had it on for hours and there is no way I will get him to take it off!
~The Fifth Paw (2 points) ($14.99): This is a neat little gadget. It hooks onto your dogs lease so you don’t have to carry the lease and the bag! It allows you to be “doody” free if you will! I can’t believe no one has thought of this before. What a great idea!
~Grin for Dental Heath Soft Chews for Dogs (1 point) ($6.39): These are perfect for my dogs! We’ve received them before and they will actually chew on them because they are soft (they don’t love hard treats). And we are always working on improving their dental hygiene!
~Vivamune Health Chews for Large Dogs (2 points) ($22.95): I am going to give these to my brother who now has 4 dogs living at his house (Marshall Pickles still needs a home). 3 of them are large(r) dogs, so they will be perfect. They are specially formulated to support your dog’s immune function and support skin health, join function and more.
~Urine Off (1 point) ($3.47): Buddy still does have accidents in the house (one spot on the tile is his favorite), so I am going to try this there and see what happens. I don’t know if he does it because he smells that spot, or if he just likes to pee in the house (I am going with this). We will see!
All totaled I came up with a value of $61.18 for the April 2014 PetBox. It was valued at 9 points and once again, PetBox has said that the “Surprise Me” option may have more than 6 points in it depending on their inventory for the month. But with the custom option you will get exactly what you want. Totally your pick! PetBox is $39/month (and drops down to $29/month with a 12 month subscription).

what a great box!!! love the last photo! btw how is your brother’s westie, does he love his new family? <3
He’s good! He’s a total ankle biter! The trouble maker of the family!!!
There’s one item I couldn’t find a price on but with using my six points, I managed to come up with a value I’m guessing somewhere between $35 and $40. I got two snacks, a silicon grooming tool, a plaque remover additive for water, and some reusable folding paper/plastic travel bowls. It really takes some fiddling and price checking to come up with a box with value; for example I passed on a ball that is on Amazon for $6.50, but which would have cost me two points to get. (Yes, I will probably get it for them from Amazon). Your box was much more valuable, but except for the snack and the Fifth Paw (which I ordered for my last box :), I would have been a little disappointed in your box, so the trade off is fair enough in my opinion. I am not sure I want to take a chance on the surprise box even with the greater value. I really wasn’t sure about this box, but I calmed down about it. It looks like to me that the value is reasonably close to what a full price subscription costs, and of course you get introduced to things you might not have found otherwise.
I really appreciate the work you put into making those comparisons with points! And that is definitely a dapper dog!
Yeah, sometimes it’s not better to be more valuable! If you aren’t going to use the stuff, then it doesn’t matter how valuable it is!
Baxter looks totally dapper in that bow tie! And while I like the idea of choosing your own items, I think I like surprises more. Just ordered a 3 month sub to BarkBox, but will keep this one in mind once it runs out.
Baxter loves it!
You know those vivamunes are chewy. You can cut them in half with kitchen scissors. I know your dogs like chewy things and these are good for your dogs.
Yes. I would probably have to quarter them for my dogs though?
Thanks for the Marshall Pickles shout out. Also, I totally need that bowtie for Rex. Maybe after he gets groomed though.
Rex would look SO handsome in a bowtie!
