I have Stitch Fix set up on auto deliveries, which I believe happen every four weeks, and this month I was lucky enough to get two in the same month! Woot woot! I am calling this my May 2014 Stitch Fix though so it doesn’t get too confusing.
If you aren’t familiar, Stitch Fix is a personal styling service for women. You provide your style, size, and budget preferences, and they will send you a package of stylish goodies to try on at home. There is a $20 styling fee that is applied to your order should you decide to keep any / all of the pieces. If you don’t keep anything, you don’t receive a refund of the fee. And if you keep all of the pieces, you get a 25% discount on everything! Also, I should mention that you are only charged once you “check out” at Stitch Fix. You have a few days to try everything on and the box comes with a bag and a prepaid return label so you can easily ship back the pieces you aren’t interested in.
My May 2014 Stitch Fix shipped via FedEx and took just a few days to arrive. I believe it shipped on Friday or Saturday and arrived yesterday (Tuesday). It comes all the way from San Francisco, so that’s pretty speedy if you ask me.
I, of course, had peeked in my account to see what I was getting (once your package ships the rating / comments section appears and it lets you see the listing of your things), but it’s always hard to tell by the descriptions. There were a few things I liked and I few I just wasn’t sure about.
Stitch Fix comes with an information card which includes a listing of everything in the box, prices, and then a total of how much everything would be if you kept everything in the box (it deducts your $20 styling fee and the 25% discount for keeping all of your items). Just to give you an idea, my box had a merchandise total of $286 and had I kept everything, I would have had to pay $199.50 (plus my $20 styling fee). In comparison, my Fix from last month would have been $260.50 to keep everything. Here is what I received:
~41Hawthorn Rowson Colorblock Striped Sweater ($58): I received a somewhat similar shirt in a previous fix and kept that one, so I will be keeping this one too! I love the colors and think it will be great for the summer. Verdict: Kept
~Street Level Mariam Crossbody Bag with Zip Detail ($48): I think this bag is cute and well made and the price point is spot on, however, I am not a fan of the crossbody. It looks so cute on some people, but on me, not so much. I could just use it as a top handle bag, but it’s also not super big, which is also something I look for in a bag (I carry so much crap with me). Verdict: Returned.
~RD McComas Drape Front Cardigan ($48): I had such high hopes for this one. But it’s so not working for me. First of all, it’s too short. Which may be how it’s suppose to be, but it makes me look extra boxy, which is not a good look. And the fabric is very thick which doesn’t help either. If it were longer and in a thinner fabric (so basically if it were totally different), I would have kept it.
~Level 99 Krissy Black Skinny Pant ($88): I totally totally love these, however, they don’t fit. Boo for tight pants! But had they fit I totally would have kept them. For sure. They are well made, not too expensive and super cute. Verdict: Returned (but I didn’t want too).
~Fun2Fun Colibri Heart Print Tab-Sleeve Blouse: I really like the print on this one, but it’s not the style for me. I don’t know how I feel about the neckline and collar. But I LOVE the hearts. Verdict: Returned.
I wasn’t in love with this Fix like I have been with some of them in the past, but I did keep one item, so it wasn’t a total waste. As long as I keep one item from each fix and don’t lose my styling fee, I am happy!
