Celebrate American Made, who kindly sent me this box to review, is a brand new subscription service featuring the best food and handcrafted items every month from around the United States. Each month they will select a different state and allow subscribers to enjoy and discover what the locals love.
Celebrate American Made ships via USPS. Boxes are shipped on the last Monday of the month and take just a few days to arrive.
I love the idea behind Celebrate American Made and couldn’t wait to see what goodies they sent this month and what the state was. They released a listing of the states that would be featured in 2014, but I wanted to be surprised, so I didn’t reference it before I received the box.
The April 2014 Celebrate American Made state was “Colorado” and included products from magnificent Colorado makers who represent the state’s lifestyle. The hope is that whether you are skiing, hiking, camping, chilling outside with friends or finding comfort in nature, these companies and artists will provide you with a bit of that Colorado experience Here is what was inside:
~Bulumu All-Natural Toasted Oat Granola ($6): Unlike most granolas, well most granolas I have seen, these are individual oats instead of in clusters. And they are toasted individually without all that oil and sugar. I samples them and thought they were very good! I’d even consider these in a bowl with milk and I NEVER put milk in cereal or anything. Ever.
~Tuffy Kickshaw’s Whiskey n’ Brown Butter Gourmet Popcorn ($8): I want to wait for B to get home tonight before I open these. They are made handmade and in small batches using Stranahan’s Colorado whiskey!
~Ella’s Family Farms Dried Apples, Peaches & Pears ($5): I am not a huge fan of dried fruit and probably wouldn’t buy it on my own, but if it’s here I will eat it. I would LOVE to try some of this company’s jams and fruit butters. Heck, if I lived near them, I would probably go on their annual farm tour. I totally love that kind of stuff!
~Rocky Mountain Salsa – Mild ($4.50): I love salsa and I love that this in here. I buy all sorts of salsa and I love it. This is fabulous and will be gone in days. So good!
~Ricky’s Lucky Nuts ($2): These are totally a B item! I won’t be able to handle the spice from these (which I why I was thrilled that salsa came in a mild), so I am going to give these to him. And, since I am like 12, can you say Ricky’s Lucky Nuts without giggling? Because I cannot.
I didn’t add up the costs on this one because I didn’t think it would be fair if I didn’t include shipping costs because you probably wouldn’t be able to get many locally of these unless you were in Colorado! The May box state is “Washington” so if you are interested, make sure you sign up before they sell out (because they totally do)!
