Birchbox Man Cost: $20/month. Ships To: United States.
I almost couldn’t believe it, but B’s June 2014 Birchbox Man box arrived on Friday. It was before the June boxes were even posted (they go live on the 25th), so for the first time in a long, I was 100% Birchbox spoiler free! If you aren’t familiar, Birchbox Man is $20/month and sends you monthly deliveries of deluxe grooming and lifestyle samples, tailored to your profile. With Birchbox Man you can try cult brands, up-and-coming lines, and everything in between.
Birchbox Man ships via USPS through Newgistics. The shipping on the Men’s box was clearly not delayed as the shipping on the May Women’s Box was for me and took only two days to arrive. I love it!
I was so anxious to see what was in this box I forgot to take a first look picture! Oops! This month’s box wasn’t a collaboration, so it was the normal Birchbox Man box.
The June 2014 Birchbox Man theme was “Away We Go” and included the following items you need to help you become a great traveler and be ready to go at the last minute:
~English Laundry Tahitian Waters ($~3): This is very curious. So everything in my box arrived in 100% perfect condition. But this was totally empty. And open. If it would have spilled out I feel like the tissue paper would have been stained or the crinkly or SOMETHING, but nope. It was all perfect. I can tell the scent was in there at one time because the container smells amazing. I am going to e-mail Birchbox and see what they say. Was mine the only like this or were others as well?
~Mr. Natty Willie Max’s All-Over Wax (~$7): This works on everything from your hair to rough skin patches and sunburns. Totally perfect for traveling and I sense we will be getting this in a larger size because it is such a great product.
~Proper Bar Soap ($2.40): Smells good and B will use it on one of his trips I am sure, but it really reminds me of hotel soap packaging. Fancy hotel soap, but still hotel soap!
~The Laundress Wash & Stain Bar ($3): This can be used for stain removal or for old-school handwashing in your hotel sink. I can see the spot removal and heck, B might even do something like that. Maybe. But handwashing in his hotel sink? Never. He’d bring it home to me or send it to the hotel laundry service! So basically, I will be taking this soap for traveling with the kids.
~Tommy John Loafer Liners (2 Pack) ($16.50): We got an e-mail this month that allowed us to pick out this month’s lifestyle item. Our options were socks, a wallet or surprise me. We opted for the surprise me option and got the loafer socks which was fine with us. B would have been okay with either so he told me to go for the surprise! I don’t know that I have ever seen B wear boat shoes or show ankle, but I will now!
All totaled I came up with a value of $31.90 for the June 2014 Birchbox Man box. This doesn’t include the including points for doing reviews and purchasing the box itself (**) – which would bring the value up to $38.90! Birchbox Man is $20/month, as is usually the case, this box was worth more than double the cost. I don’t know that this box was the perfect fit for B, but I loved that it included all new brands for us!

Did you hear the news about Birchbox Plus?? They must have read our idea! You now have the option to upgrade the women’s box and add a lifestyle item between 3 choices they give you! Hooray!
I just got that e-mail today! I picked a scarf. It was kind of expensive, but oh well!
oh, that’s funny! i shoved my laundress wash & stain bar in my husband’s stuff before he left. and he’s getting it in his box! i had the box sent here. hopefully june will be all work and then moving. i have my fingers crossed. don’t ask me when he’s coming home. i’m afraid he’s going to once again find a note on his desk tomorrow about extending the contract.
the soap looked like hotel soap to me, too. i am really excited about the liner socks. i have fantasies of throwing away all his tall white socks. i *may* actually do that and totally blame it on a fit of pregnancy rage. if they extend his contract i will do more than throw out socks.
Ahh, I hope so! What happened this morning? was there a note? I totally hope not!
no note. we’ll see. they were all on vacay though.
BB Man always intrigues me. That wax actually seems pretty cool! Maybe I just need to try gifting one box to my husband and that will hopefully get him hooked enough to subscribe! Or maybe I can’t just get one? I need to investigate…
You could gift him a Birchbox or a Bespoke? I always like those too.
Hi Jennifer,
I *wish* we were in hotels! You’re right, the mini-soap sample that you received does look like a hotel sample. But I assure that our full-sized bars are hand wrapped in luxurious demi-gloss paper and have a secret thank you message printed on the inside…Email me your address and I’ll post a full-sized bar to you so that you can see first hand.
Did you know that we’re a cause-driven, socially conscious company? Every Proper purchase triggers a significant financial contribution to a dire-need sanitation/clean water program. Each Proper purchase makes Proper progress toward solving a critical world problem.
Thank you for your kind words! And I look forward to hearing from you soon.

I believe you! I will shoot you over an e-mail!
That laundry bar is a freaking miracle soap. I dropped beets all over my skirt (probably one of the worst things you can stain something with) and got it into the sink with that bar–and it got it out. Don’t underestimate it!
I want to try it!
I’m really happy to have gotten the j fold card carrier this month! (which I’m keeping for myself, heh) I don’t think I could have gifted the loafer liners. XD
That is a good point! What color carrier did you get?
I got blue! And it’s gorgeous. 🙂
Did you ever talk to them about the empty container? Curious as to what their reply was.
Thinking I need to subscribe to this box, but kind of nervous about that after bad dealings with a couple other boxes.
I can’t remember if I e-mailed them about it or not, but I can 100% tell you that Birchbox has amazing customer service. They are quick to respond and want to make customers happy.
