June 2014 Birchbox Man

I almost couldn’t believe it, but B’s June 2014 Birchbox Man box arrived on Friday.  It was before the June boxes were even posted (they go live on the 25th), so for the first time in a long, I was 100% Birchbox spoiler free! If you aren’t familiar, Birchbox Man is $20/month and sends you monthly deliveries of deluxe grooming and lifestyle samples, tailored to your profile. With Birchbox Man you can try cult brands, up-and-coming lines, and everything in between.

The Box

Birchbox Man ships via USPS through Newgistics.  The shipping on the Men’s box was clearly not delayed as the shipping on the May Women’s Box was for me and took only two days to arrive.  I love it!

The Birchbox

I was so anxious to see what was in this box I forgot to take a first look picture!  Oops!  This month’s box wasn’t a collaboration, so it was the normal Birchbox Man box.

The Information Card

The June 2014 Birchbox Man theme was “Away We Go” and included the following items you need to help you become a great traveler and be ready to go at the last minute:

~English Laundry Tahitian Waters ($~3): This is very curious.  So everything in my box arrived in 100% perfect condition.  But this was totally empty.  And open. If it would have spilled out I feel like the tissue paper would have been stained or the crinkly or SOMETHING, but nope.  It was all perfect.  I can tell the scent was in there at one time because the container smells amazing.  I am going to e-mail Birchbox and see what they say.  Was mine the only like this or were others as well?

English Laundry Tahitian Waters

~Mr. Natty Willie Max’s All-Over Wax (~$7): This works on everything from your hair to rough skin patches and sunburns.  Totally perfect for traveling and I sense we will be getting this in a larger size because it is such a great product.

Mr. Natty Willie Max’s All-Over Wax

~Proper Bar Soap ($2.40): Smells good and B will use it on one of his trips I am sure, but it really reminds me of hotel soap packaging.  Fancy hotel soap, but still hotel soap!

Proper Bar Soap

~The Laundress Wash & Stain Bar ($3): This can be used for stain removal or for old-school handwashing in your hotel sink.  I can see the spot removal and heck, B might even do something like that.  Maybe.  But handwashing in his hotel sink?  Never.  He’d bring it home to me or send it to the hotel laundry service!  So basically, I will be taking this soap for traveling with the kids.

The Laundress Wash & Stain Bar

~Tommy John Loafer Liners (2 Pack) ($16.50): We got an e-mail this month that allowed us to pick out this month’s lifestyle item. Our options were socks, a wallet or surprise me.  We opted for the surprise me option and got the loafer socks which was fine with us.  B would have been okay with either so he told me to go for the surprise!  I don’t know that I have ever seen B wear boat shoes or show ankle, but I will now!

All totaled I came up with a value of $31.90 for the June 2014 Birchbox Man box. This doesn’t include the including points for doing reviews and purchasing the box itself (**) – which would bring the value up to $38.90!  Birchbox Man is $20/month, as is usually the case, this box was worth more than double the cost.  I don’t know that this box was the perfect fit for B, but I loved that it included all new brands for us!

(*) If you want to see all the boxes this month, click here and change the 1 at the end to anything from a 2 to 17 since there were 27 (down from last month’s 27 variations) box variations this month. If you can’t figure out which box number you got, login into Birchbox and then Click “Box” and select Men’s or Women’s. Scroll down a bit to were it says “Box History” and click the month of the box (in this case June 2014). The number at the end of the URL is your box number. B’s box ended in “june-2014-bb2″ which means he got box #2.
(**) You only get points for purchasing the box if you buy a prepaid annual subscription (or 3-month, 6-months, etc.). You don’t get points if you are on a month to month subscription.
