May 2014 bluum (29 month-old boy)

Yesterday was another amazing mail day around here and one of the boxes I received was my May 2014 bluum box!  I think of all the boxes I received yesterday, bluum was the one I was most curious about!  I just never know what they will be sending.

If you aren’t familiar, bluum (who recently acquired Stork Stack), is a monthly box of goodies for moms and babies.  Products are hand selected based on your child’s age (from pregnancy to preschool), gender and developmental stage.

bluum ships via FedEx Smart Post.  It took just under a week to arrive which is about average.

The box looked pretty full and while I couldn’t see too much, I did like what I saw.

The Information Card

bluum sends out boxes which include products are based on your child’s age, gender and developmental stage and no longer do a “themed” box.  Products in the monthly boxes still change from month to month, so if you are expecting a 29 Month-Old (we have WB aged up) box next month it will likely be different.  Heck, it might even be different if you received a 29-month old box this month.  You never know what you are going to get with bluum and it keeps me intrigued! Here is what our May 2014 bluum box included:

~A Slide and Surprise Numbers Book ($5.94): Probably not a book I would grab at the store on my own, but it’s certainly revenant and it seems nice and sturdy so WB won’t be able to wreck it right away.  He does like to read books more now, but he’s super rough with them.

~Bitsy’s Brainfood Zucchini Gingerbread & Carrot Smart Cookies ($2.49): These are always a bit hit with the kids.  And I have trued them as well and they are better than they sound.

~Banz Kids Sunglasses ($17): We got a blue pair of these (from bluum I believe) last summer and WB used them a bunch.  I am hoping that I can keep these on him this year as well.  He usually spends most of his time wearing sunglasses taking them off, putting them off, taking them off, etc.  These have a band though, so maybe it will be different.

~Melissa & Doug Chunky Scene Puzzle ($9.99): WB is into puzzles and will be happy to get his hands on this one.  It does seem a little young no?  I know it says 2+ on the package, but it seems like it might be for a slightly younger crowd.  But like I said, WB will love it!

~Flap Happy Boys Summer Hat ($16.95): The hat in the information e-mail we received shows a hat with flips, but I like this one better, so I am not going to e-mail.  This is going to be a bit like the sunglasses.  If I can get WB to wear it, it will be awesome.  Otherwise, not so much.

L helped me unbox this one and volunteered to be my model for a picture!  As you can see, the hat fits him perfect, so WB is going to have to grow into it.  The sunglasses are resizable, so that’s not an issue at all.

Best model ever.
Best model ever.

All totaled I came up with a value of $52.37 for the May 2014 bluum box!  That was over double the $24.95 cost of the box and is a great deal.  I liked this box, but I will LOVE it if WB can keep the sunglasses (and hat) on few at least 10 minutes straight!

What was the mom gift this month?

    1. Jennifer

      I don’t think I got one?

        Boo!

That coupon code only works if you buy a 3 month service or longer, not just a one month. Poo ):

Thanks for the heads up! I will adjust.

nice box but I agree with the puzzle being a little young. I actually just took all our wood puzzles and sent them with the other toys to the consignment lady. They just don’t sell for much but since we don’t ever use them it was time for them to go. Once I took them down I realized I could sell the puzzle rack too. Woohoo clearing some space for as the boys keep telling me “more new toys” LOL

Ohh, I cannot wait to get rid of some stuff!

I got a 29 month girl box and mine came with a Melissa and Doug number peg puzzle, hair detangler, a boom chica pop popcorn, a flappy hat (with the ear flaps) I would have rather got one like you received, and a sunscreen stick.. all in all not a bad box..

It’s her last in the 3 month deal I got so hopefully I can find another deal to keep them going, I really liked Bluum box and she did too! 🙂

Yeah I totally didn’t mind it wasn’t the hat in the picture. Tell me, is your hat huge on your little one?

      1. Shelly

It’s HUGE! I mean my girl is small to begin with but it will be many years before that hat will fit her. lol.. It would have been better if it was adjustable somehow..

        1. Jennifer

Ha! I swear it might be my 6 year olds new hat!

  5. Candice

I loved our box this month too. My daughter is 7 and she still always loves everything she gets. The hat and sunglasses fit her perfectly! They are the same as you received, just in a girly design. I know she is a little old for this sub, but bluum does a good job matching items for her. She usually gets something for in her lunchbox like a water bottle or food container. I wish there was another deal as this month was our last.

As always- thanks for all your reviews Jennifer!!

Honestly that hat probably does fit perfect for a 7 year old!!!! My 6 year old could probably wear it for another year or so!

We got a cute hat, sunglasses, letters wipe off board book, the cookies, and a sandwich keeper – super value for this box! My box says Pre-K. Very happy with it!

    1. Jennifer

That sounds like a cute one!

I signed up for bluum and citrus lane after seeing your reviews. I got my first bluum box in today and I’m pretty disappointed. It’s for a 10 month old girl. I received 1 jar beechnut baby food, a reusable swim diaper, banz baby glasses, purple prairie sun stick, and a kind granola bar. I already feed her the beechnut baby food, so I wasn’t excited about that, she might use the swim diaper, she won’t wear the glasses…would rather play with them. We will try the sun stick, and I’ll give my older son the granola bar. All in all my first experience with subscription boxes sucks. I signed up for 3 months of bluum, hopefully it will get better. I was hoping for books, maybe new toy brands to try…Idk this box sucked. What did other moms of 10 month old babies get? Thanks, love your reviews

    1. Jennifer

That doesn’t sound too fabulous. I’m not too sure what other 10 month-olds got this month?
