May 2014 Fancy Food Box

I totally forgot my May 2014 Fancy Food Box was coming today, so I was pretty surprised when I saw my FedEx lady walk up the driveway holding it.

If you aren’t familiar Fancy offers not only their celebrity curated (Snoop Dogg, Coco Rocha, Jennifer Love Hewitt, T-Pain, Kelly Rowland and Verbal) and original Fancy Box, they also offer a Fancy Food Box, which includes five or more food products – anything from cookies and chocolates to teas and sauces. And more recently they have added Mystery Boxes, which start at $10/box.

The Box

As usual, Fancy Box ships via FedEx. My boxes always take two days to get to me from the East Coast and this was no exception.

First Look

I had yet to see (or look for) any spoilers on this one, so opening it was a total surprise.  I sensed a theme when I opened it and hoped my guess was right.

The Information Card

I am guessing that all of the Fancy Boxes will eventually have these information cards instead of the individual ones we used to get.  I kind of like the change and it’s nice because you know you aren’t missing anything.  The May 2014 Fancy Food Box included everything you needed to make a full meal at home with an Italian inclination.  Here is what was inside:

~Sfoglini Pasta Trumpets ($7):  Mmmmm, pasta!  Sfoglini is Brooklyn based and produces pastas made from locally sourced ingredients.  I am literally counting down the days until B and I have this for dinner.  Maybe Sunday night?

Sfoglini Pasta Trumpets

~Genovese Truffle Pesto ($7.98): I am hoping there is enough of this to do pasta and bruschetta!  I don’t believe we have ever used / received / bought a pesto like this and probably wouldn’t have bought it on our own, so it was nice that it showed up in here.

Genovese Truffle Pesto

~Tuscan Vodka Sauce ($8.99): I know I have had this before (Mantry maybe?) and it was fabulous.  This is what’s happening on Sunday night with the trumpet pasta!  And maybe some grilled chicken.

Tuscan Vodka Sauce

~Grey Ghost Lemon Sugar Cookies ($9):  Yes!  Lemon cookies are amazing and these are no exception.  WB and I tried them after lunch when they arrived and we both approved.

Grey Ghost Lemon Sugar Cookies

~Saveur Easy Italian Cookbook ($13.06): This cookbook has 30 authentic recipes including most of the classics.  I don’t enjoy cooking (B really does though), but I do love looking at cookbooks and picking out recipes for him to make.

~Kale Krackers ($7.99): No matter what I do or try, I just cannot get into the kale / seaweed trends.  I know some people just love them though, so I am going to pass these on to one of those people!

Kale Krackers

All totaled I came up with a total of $54.02 for the May 2014 Fancy Food Box.  Certainly not the most valuable Fancy Box ever (not by a longshot), but of course I didn’t include any shipping in my prices either.  I loved them theme of this box, but would have liked another something to round out the box.  Maybe some fancy olive oil?

Did you get Fancy Food Box this month?  What’d you think?  If you are thinking of ordering the Fancy Food Box, cluck here! Fancy Boxes are $39 + $7.95 shipping, but you can always use the coupon code “FOLLOWUP10″ to save 10% on any Fancy.com, order, including subscription boxes.  If you are looking for any of the other Fancy Box boxes (including the Mother’s Day Box or Mystery Boxes), I suggest just doing search for “Fancy Box“. It’s much easier than trying to navigate their site, which I find quite confusing at times.
