May 2014 GrandBox

GrandBox, who kindly sent me this box to review, is a monthly care package for those who cared for you. Each month your older loved one will receive a curated package that includes something exciting, something sweet, something necessary, and something from you.

The Box

GrandBox ships via USPS Priority Mail around the 15th of the month.  Boxes will ship earlier in the month for special occasions such as Mother’s Day or Birthdays.

First Look

April was the first month for GrandBox so it’s a new box and I was totally spoiler free!  I loved the tissue paper they used on this one and so did my mom who was over when I opened it.  That’s probably because they used to have wallpaper that looked just like it (no for real).

The Information Card

GrandBox doesn’t have a true information card.  Instead they have a little GrandBox post card, which could be used by the recipient to send a little note to the person who gifted this box to them!  Here is what was included in the May 2014 GrandBox:

~To Our Children’s Children by Bob Greene ($16): This isn’t a book that I would normally pick up, but it’s also not meant for me either!  It’s a step-by-step guide to creating precious personal histories from the memories of older people, which is perfect for this box.

~Notebook & Pen (~$6): This pen is super fabulous (I love Staedtler pens) and who doesn’t need a pretty little notebook?

~White Rabbit Organic Soap ($8): I am mixed on the smell on this one.  I don’t know that my Grandma would have liked it (my mom didn’t, but she’s also not “old”), but I thought it was okay.  I liked that you can see the “stuff” in it!

~Whitman’s Sampler ($1): My mom saw this and said, yep, old people do like Whitman’s Samplers!  And so do I actually!  They do totally remind me of my Grandma.  She always had one around!

~Custom Notes / Pictures: You are also able to include personal notes and pictures in your GrandBox. You just upload them to the website by a certain date and GrandBox prints them and includes them in your box, so it’s really a personalized gift from you!  I love this aspect of the box!

Personalized Pictures

All totaled I came up with a value of $31 for the May 2014 GrandBox.  Of course, I used online prices and estimated some, so it’s probably actually higher than that.  I love the idea of a care package for grandparents and think they would love to receive something like this (and would love the pictures and notes aspect as well)!
