May 2014 Love With Food

I always look forward to my Love With Food boxes and this month was no exception. They seem to be able to come up with items I have never tried before and probably would have never tried if they weren’t included in the box.

If you aren’t familiar, Love With Food box members receive a curated box filled with 8+ unique gourmet food items. Each box brings new delights, with bites that vary based on seasonal themes. In addition, Love With Food donates a meal to a child in need with each box purchased, which you can read more about here.

The Box

Love With Food ships via DHL Global Mail.  This month’s box took about 5 days to arrive, which is pretty much average for them.

First Look

I couldn’t tell much from the first look, but I also didn’t recognize anything either which I thought was a good sign.

The Information Card

The May 2014 Love With Food theme is “Derby Days” and includes the following reimagined classic Kentucky Derby fare:

~Honeybush Caramel, Southern Mint and Tropical Green Tea by Revolution Tea:  Still not a tea person, but my cousin will enjoy this assortment.  I believe what she doesn’t drink she passes along to someone else to enjoy.  So all the tea I receive does find a home.

~Tarallino Snack with Extra Virgin Olive Oil by Terre Di Puglia: I was expecting more from these.  They weren’t bad, but I didn’t think they tasted like much either.  Maybe with hummus or a spinach dip or something they’d be better.

~Tropical Peach Drink by Flavrz Organic: This will work nicely since I am (once again) on my big water kick.

~Sweet Potato Chips by One Potato Two Potato: Love these.  They are like actual potato chips and not overly thick.  They are just good.  I would get a big bag of these for sure.

~Sea Salt Caramels by Le Caramel: I wouldn’t mind more of these either that’s for sure!  Can you go wrong with sea salt caramels?   Well, maybe you can, but nothing about these are wrong.

~Key Lime Cookies by J&M: I was expecting to hate these. B opened the bag to eat and handed me one to try and I swear I made a face before I put it in my mouth.  I just though no.  This isn’t going to be good.  But umm, they are fabulous.  No kidding.  Key lime cookies are really really good!

~Giddy Up & Go Granola: We have had this before and while I do like granola, it’s more of a B item.

~Hickory Smoked Sea Salt & Italian Black Truffle Salt from The Spice Lab: For sure a B item!  We have been big plans for lots of eating at home this summer and trying new recipes so he will make good use of these!
