May 2014 NewBeauty TestTube

Yay! My May 2014 NewBeauty TestTube has arrived! I actually loved my last one so much that I knew I had to keep my subscription. I have actually been counting down the days until this one came.

If you aren’t familiar, TestTube is an exclusive, one-of-a-kind sampling program that enables members the opportunity to try a variety of the latest breakthrough beauty products before investing in them, and then share their feedback about the products. Six times a year, for just $29.95 (plus shipping and handling), subscribers receive a TestTube filled with deluxe and full-size products from the hottest beauty brands. Members will also receive a subscription to NewBeauty magazine, delivered quarterly. I should note that this is different than QVC New Beauty Test Tube, which is a quarterly subscription.

The Box

NewBeauty TestTube ships via FedEx Smart Post.  I believe I got a tracking notification on this one on April 29th and it arrived today, on the 1st.  That could be a SmartPost record for me.

First Look

NewBeauty TestTube has fabulous packaging and it looked like a present.  And it actually was.  A present from me to me.  LOL!

Second First Look

Eeek!  I was so excited to dig into this!  I knew it was coming today because I was tracking it, but it wasn’t on my porch with all my other deliveries today.  My mail lady had it in the mailbox.  She likes to keep my on my toes I guess?

The Information Book

NewBeauty TestTube has one of the best information “cards” out there.  It’s actually a book and has product information, how to use, a little information about the company, as well as, information on where to buy it.  Here is what my May 2014 NewBeauty TestTube included:

~TanTowel Classic Self-Tan Towelettes ($12): I love TanTowels!  I haven’t bought any yet for this year, so this is awesome. They are SO easy to use and give me a nice glow that doesn’t look all orange and fake.

~Macadamia Natural Oil Flawless Cleansing Conditioner ($12.38): Umm, what is this magic in a can?  It’s to be used in place of your shampoo and conditioner on wet hair.  It detangles, give shine and, get this, reduces blow drying time.  I will for sure be incorporating this into my routine.  For sure.  Maybe every second day?

~Mally Evercolor Shadow Stick ($25): I have actually tried this in a few colors and I love it!  You put it in and then you have 30 seconds to blend it in before it “sets”.  You can also use it as an eyeliner if you want.

~Revision Skincare Intellishade Broad-Spectrum SPF 45 (~$10): How on earth this tinted moisturizer works for everyone I will never know, but I can confirm that it works for me.  I have tried it a few times in the past and I tried it again today.  Your skin just looks like your skin with this on, but better.

~Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair ($4.95):  My hair is looking pretty good these days, so I don’t need to use this just yet (it helps resuscitate dry, damaged or chemically treated hair).  I am certain I will soon though because I am planning to do a DIY ombre on my hair this weekend and if that doesn’t go well, I will need to re-dye and that’s just a lot of chemicals in a short time.

~Jergens BB Body Perfecting Skin Cream ($1.73): I have been meaning to pick this up and haven’t gotten around to it.  It’s suppose to improve the look of your skin within one day and gives you five visible benefits after give days.  I will be picking up the full size of this so I can give it the full test!

~Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream ($1.28): This is a head to toe moisturizing skin cream that delivers serious hydration to the spots that need it.  I tested it on my lips and they felt very smooth, but the smell isn’t the greatest.  It’s kind of Vicks?  I would probably use it in my feet / hands at night in the future.  But it really does work and gets rave reviews at Sephora.

NewBeauty TestTube also includes a “Beauty To Go” bag with extra products and samples that aren’t listed on the information card. Not all subscribers get the same items, but every tube does have this extra bag of goodies!

Beauty To-Go

~Camille Beckman Hand Therapy ($4.95): My hands for sure felt softer after I put this on, but I am torn on the smell.  It’s not bad, but it’s not something I would buy on my own either.  I’ll use it though. No hand cream goes to waste around here!

~Stila Face the Day ($11.18): I don’t know that I have ever tried a Stilla skincare item before.  In fact, I am not even sure I knew they made skincare?  Interesting.  I put this on to test it and thought it make my skin feel nice and hydrated, but obviously after only one use I can’t tell if it firms skin like it promises.  I wonder how long you need to test things to see true results?  Do you think the average is like 3-4 weeks?

~Ban Total Refresh Cooling Body Cloths (Sample): If only it were warm enough to need to be cooled down.  LOL!!! I will throw these in my bag though and hopefully soon – very soon – I will need to try them.

~CoTZ Face Sunscreen (Sample): This too will head in my bag for a day that I didn’t really plan to spend outside or forgot sunscreen for my face!  I hate applying body sunscreen to my face because it makes it breakout, but sometimes I have no choice if I am unprepared.

All totaled I came up with a value of $83.47 for the May 2014 NewBeauty TestTube!  The Tube is $38.90 ($29.95 + $7.95) shipping, so this Tube was worth over double the cost!  I am loving this sub and wish I would have signed up sooner!

What do you think of NewBeauty TestTube?  If you want to check them out or learn more, click here.  If you use my link you’ll get a free bonus gift with your order! Right now it’s a sample (like I received) of the Stila Face the Day, but I believe it does change sometimes.

I love the macadamia stuff! I don’t use it every time I wash my hair, usually just once a week. It’s amazing!!

    1. Jennifer

Ahhh, you have tried it?? I want to take a shower right now!

  2. Krista

People are going crazy over this tube. And not in a good way. Hundreds of girls in my Facebook groups are canceling bc of this box. I haven’t gotten mine yet and this is my first one. I haven’t looked at anyone’s pictures bc I like to be surprised but I haven’t seen anyone happy.

    1. Jennifer

OMG really? The value on the last one was just crazy amazing. I was guessing it wouldn’t be like that again, but maybe everyone was?? I need to go check out MUT!

      1. Krista

Wait what’s MUT?!?!? Is that a Facebook group? Must know!
If you go on new beauty’s Facebook page, they posted a teaser video link and people are freaking out on the comments! and on Youtube I guess.
        But again what’s MUT?! Lol

        1. Jennifer

MUT is MakeupTalk. There aren’t too many comments the TestTube, but no one seems happy. LOL! I totally need to go read their Facebook wall. I just assumed there was no way it would be as amazing as last month, so maybe my expectations were lower than most?

Ummm this box (tube) is awesome!! That macadamia conditioner sounds amazing. I might need to add this one to my box wish list!

    1. Jennifer

I am planning on using it in the morning!!!!

  4. Hannah

I got that Jergens BB Body Perfecting Cream in my March Birchbox, but haven’t used it yet. It came with a coupon, so I should try it soon so I know if I need to use my coupon on the full-size or not. These mini sizes are in the $1-$3 aisle at my Target, Birchbox Finds must like Target as much as we do!

    1. Jennifer

      Who doesn’t like Target???

  5. Kirsten

    OMG

    1. Jennifer

What???? Do you feel like you have been missing out?

      1. Kirsten

I feel like I’m missing my money

        1. Jennifer

OMG, I thought you were replying to the MUT link I posted to someone else. Ha! I thought you meant wow to that and that you were missing out on Makeup Talk!!!!

          Did your tube come yet?

  6. Cheryl

I was really happy with this Tube! A lot of new-to-me products which I always like, and I love the Mally and was so happy I got a color that I didn’t already own (Cobalt). I’m also signed up for Beauty DNA which I think is associated with New Beauty. Have you tried that one yet?

    1. Jennifer

I have not tried them. But they are totally on my “to try” list. Have you gotten your first shipment yet?

      1. Cheryl

I did! I got a $60-something face cream which is awesome because I would never spend that much on my own. Plus I got a very detailed description card, specifically telling me how the cream matched my profile. So far so good!

  7. Blair

I have been eyeing this subscription, but haven’t taken the plunge yet… I just did stitchfix and I’m so excited for June to come around now! I remember you talking about skin care routines and I wanted to share a new product with you in case you were interested. I found out about it from YouTube. Its Garnier Clean + Nourishing oil. Obviously this wouldn’t be the best idea for someone with oily skin, as it is geared towards dry skin. But I have used it twice so far and I love it! takes off all my makeup and everything. I normally do it right before I get the in the shower because you want dry hands and a dry face. I rub it on and massage it onto my face then take a warm washcloth and wipe it off. Just thought I would share.

    1. Jennifer

Thanks! I will look into it! My skin is combination, so it might work??

  8. Amy

You need to repost once you have tried the Macadamia product. Very interested, but full size is too expensive to try on a whim.

    1. Jennifer

Will do! I was going to try it today, but of course, I forgot to take it in the shower.

  9. allison

I ordered the Test Tube about 3-4 years ago. Was pretty happy with it. At the time, it shipped quarterly and included the New Beauty magazine each time. I like that it ships every 2 months now. I subscribed again in approx. Nov. and got two tubes after that before canceling again because I just didn’t have room for more products. For me, Mally repeated pretty often (I have gotten three eyeliners.) as does Lumene, but I think that’s par for the course with this type of sub. I’ve gotten Moroccanoil, It’s a 10, itCosmetics blush brush (which I love and use every day), Wen, & Amore Pacific, to name a few products. It seems that most complaints are about the “drug store” items that are included, rather than high end.

    1. Jennifer

I don’t mind the lower end up. If I like it, I am happy with either! I wouldn’t mind this quarterly….. It would give me more of a chance to use up everything.

      1. allison

Me neither. As long as I feel like I’m getting my money’s worth, then I’m happy. Sometimes the “drugstore” items are better anyway! 🙂

  10. Shana

I’m glad these are better. I subscribed and received 3 boxes a couple years ago and it was terrible. I got the same toothpaste in every box, sunscreen products that expired 2 months later and products that were discontinued. Maybe they have found a better market now. I was really sad; I thought it was a fun idea.

    1. Jennifer

Eeek! That’s not good! I hope that doesn’t happen again!

  11. Amy

I love Yu-Be too. My skin always gets super-dry whenever I’m traveling to a different climate, so I bring it with me whenever I’m going to be gone for more than a day or two.
