Zoobean
Cost: $2.99 – $14.95/month (depending on package selected)
Ships To: United States.
Zoobean, who kindly sent me this package to review, is a monthly subscription service which helps you build your individual child’s literacy with remarkable children’s books and apps selected just for him or her. You may select from a monthly book delivery service (from $9.99/month) that gives you one hardcover or paperback book each month, along with an app recommendation + literacy guides or a digital service option (from $2.99/month) and receive weekly personalized app + book recommendations that come with literacy guides. Zoobean was also on Shark Tank a few weeks ago and got a deal with Mark Cuban, which you can read more about here. As you know, I love Shark Tank and love it even more when I see one of “my” subscription boxes on there!
This package is for WB who is nearly 2 years old. I also received one for L, who is almost 6, but I will review that one separately.
Zoobean ships via USPS Media Mail. For some reason my packages, which ship at the same time, usually arrive separately, but this month they arrived on the same day.
The Book
This month’s book selection for WB was “The Short Giraffe” (which is $11.93 right now on Amazon). It’s a very sweet book about a giraffe that is different from all the other giraffes in the herd (he’s short) which causes a problem when they all want to take a picture together. I think it’s our favorite one from Zoobean yet! The subscription also included a Reading Guide (which is e-mailed on the day the book is delivered), which gives you suggestions on things to discuss, tips to help with vocabulary, etc.
The App
WB’s recommended App this month was “Magikid Umbrella“. I don’t always get the recommended apps, but this one was only $1.99 and I KNEW WB would be into it, so we got it. And both he and L love it (not as much as they love that Talking Ginger one though) so it was $1.99 well spent! I would love it if you could somehow customize your app recommendations. Like I would love to request that they send me only recommendations for apps that are $0.99 or $1.99. That would be awesome.
The Zoobean plan I received is $14.95, which includes the monthly hardcover book + the digital reading guide + the app selection and app companion. The book itself is nearly $14 on Amazon, so you are basically getting all those other goodies for about $1! If you are interested in just the Digital Service, it’s $2.99/month and you will receive a Receive a weekly email that includes an expert created Reading Guide or App Companion along with a book or app recommendation. And then you can pick up the book at the bookstore or borrowing it from your local library!
