Allure Summer 2014 Beauty Box

Much to my surprise, my Allure Summer Beauty Box arrived this week! I was able to order last week when it originally went on sale, but I was still surprised (and happy) it came so quickly.

If you aren’t familiar, Allure releases Beauty Boxes on a seasonal basis and have been for years and years. The boxes are jam packed with tons of products and are an incredible value. This season’s box was $44.95 and promised to have a value of over $350!!! As you can imagine, their Beauty Boxes are always a hot commodity and the Summer one was no exception!  You can read about some of the craziness of it all here.  Their site crashed the day it was originally set to go on sale, but a few of us where able to get through using a backdoor link someone over at Makeup Talk posted.  The sale was rescheduled by Allure for the 6th of May and I believe the boxes sold out within 10 minutes (if that).  So bottom, line, if you want one, you have to work for it.

The Box

The Allure Beauty Box (all 12 pounds of it) ships via UPS.  It took about two days to arrive, which was awesome.  I have ordered these boxes in the past and I never recall them shipping this quickly after the sale.  I love it though!

First Look

I could not drag this box in from the garage fast enough after the UPS guy dropped it off! It’s like Christmas going through this thing!

Second First Look

Eeek!  Look at all that!  I don’t always personally use / need everything in the boxes (it’s a ton of stuff), however, if I will pass it along to friends or donate it to a woman’s shelter so nothing goes to waste.

The Information Booklet

The Summer Allure Beauty Box (and all of their Beauty Boxes) include an information booklet with product information, details on where you can buy it, etc.  Also, the information booklet noted that a portion of the proceeds of this box were donated to NYU Langone Medical Center to benefit melanoma research!  Here is what was included:

~Aloxxi Flexible Hairspray ($18): This hairspray provides a “flexible hold” and light shine and also protects hair color from the sun.  This will be a great summer item!  Maybe I won’t have to recolor my hair so often?

Aloxxi Flexible Hairspray

~Big Sexy Hair Get Layered Flash Dry Thickening Hairspray ($17.95):  I don’t have layers, which is what this hair spray works best with, so I will probably pass this along to a friend.

Big Sexy Hair Get Layered Flash Dry Thickening Hairspray

~Burt’s Bees Even-Tone Moisturizing Cream ($20): This will even skin tine and help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in just 8 weeks.  I am experimenting with some LUSH moisturizer right now, but maybe this one will be next?

Burt’s Bees Even-Tone Moisturizing Cream

~Cargo Cosmetics Essential Lip Gloss ($16): I just got this same exact color (Tuscany) in my Jennifer Love Hewitt Fancy Box yesterday!  Ha!  I loved it then and I love it again now.

Cargo Cosmetics Essential Lip Gloss

~Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleansing Cloths ($6.49): I used cleansing cloths / wipes all the time and I have been realizing that they aren’t cheap.  That’s why I am thrilled to see these in here.

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleansing Cloths

~Developlus Anti-Aging Hair Treatment System ($20): This has me so intrigued.  After two weeks you are suppose to have vibrant, youthful hair.  I am super into my hair right now (that sounds so weird), so I am all over this.  I am starting it Monday.

Developlus Anti-Aging Hair Treatment System

~Dove Purely Pampering Body Wash ($5.49): This will be an L item!  He uses an insane amount of shower gel / body wash, so this giant bottle in a great scent will be perfect for him.

Dove Purely Pampering Body Wash

~Flower Nail’d It Nail Lacquer ($4.98): I was not aware that Drew Barrymore had a cosmetics line, but this is from it!  I love the color and I love nail polish, so it’s a win!

Flower Nail’d It Nail Lacquer

~GK Hair ThermalStyleHer ($15.99): This is a heat protectant which will give you a smooth finish while conditioning your hair.  I used it this morning before I dried my hair and thought it made my hair shinier than normal which I loved.

GK Hair ThermalStyleHer

~IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better® CC+™ Cream with SPF 50+ ($38): How on earth Allure knew that this was the exact color for me I will never know, but I love this stuff!  It blends well and you don’t need a ton of it to get good coverage.  Totally recommend!

IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better® CC+™ Cream with SPF 50+

~Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick ($8.49): I have said it a million times, but somehow for me a color stick / lip crayon is totally different than lipstick.  It’s the cute factor I think.  This color may be a little on the bright side for me, but I’ll give it a try.

Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick

~Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Face + Body Stick Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 70 ($9.99): LOVE!  This is going to be perfect for the summer and will be easy to tote along in my bag without having to work about it spilling all over the place.

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Face + Body Stick Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 70

~Not Your Mother’s Intensive Hair Unit Renewal Treatment ($7.99): This is to be used once a week to give your hair a deep conditioning treatment.   I am going to start that two week treatment on Monday and then I will probably add this to my routine when that is over.

Not Your Mother’s Intensive Hair Unit Renewal Treatment

~One ’N Only Argan Oil Cream-to-Serum Styler ($11.99): I haven’t gotten a chance to use this yet, but I am beyond curious about it.  It gets mixed reviews, but is suppose to leave hair smooth, shiny, manageable and healthy looking, all of which sound great.

One ’N Only Argan Oil Cream-to-Serum Styler

~Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Heat Protect Spray ($23): I feel like I have tried this somewhere, but I can’t seem to pinpoint where?  It protects hair against styling tools and since I am still mulling over a curling wand, this may come in quite handy.

Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Heat Protect Spray

~Pureology Fresh Approach Dry Conditioner ($24): I received this in my Mother’s Day GLOSSYBOX yesterday as well.  It restored softness, shine, etc. while eliminating frizz and static.  I don’t need this right now, but it’s only a matter of time.

Pureology Fresh Approach Dry Conditioner

~Redken Mess Around 10 Disrupting Cream-Paste ($15): Ohh, this is another L item!  He’s going to want to be doing his hair all spiky now that it’s not winter heat weather and he likes to have his own products instead of just sharing with B.

Redken Mess Around 10 Disrupting Cream-Paste

~Rembrandt Deeply White® Toothpaste ($6.99): Who doesn’t need new toothpaste?  I can’t even tell you the last time I paid for toothpaste!

Rembrandt Deeply White® Toothpaste

~Rimmel London Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara ($5.99): I want to try this, but I also don’t know if I will get to it since I have about a dozen mascaras in front of it I want to try. I need to start wearing full eye makeup daily.

Rimmel London Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara

~Rusk Freezing Spray ($19): This may end up in the donate / gift pile because I don’t know that I ever really need extreme hold in my hairspray.  But I will find a good home for it.

Rusk Freezing Spray

~Sally Hansen Triple Shine™ Nail Color and Top Coat ($9.98):  I love that we got a top coat and a polish.  And I love the polish color I got.  It’s a fun summery orange which is awesome.

Sally Hansen Triple Shine™ Nail Color and Top Coat

~Softsoap Sea Kissed Exfoliating Body Wash ($5.99): Another L item for sure!  I am going to steal a few uses though because it smells fabulous and really makes me think I am on vacation.

Softsoap Sea Kissed Exfoliating Body Wash

~TanTowel Classic Self-Tan Towelettes ($12): Love TanTowels!  I just got some in another box and am happy to get more.  These are a summer staple for me.

TanTowel Classic Self-Tan Towelettes

~Tarte lights, camera, lashes™ 4-in-1 mascara ($20): I am cracking up because even though I have a similar Tarte Mascara, I could not figure out how to open it.  I always want to pull the soft cover off, but that’s not how this works.  Love this mascara and since I did actually get it open, I have to start using it now ;).

Tarte lights, camera, lashes™ 4-in-1 mascara

All totaled I came up with a value of $343.31 for the Allure Summer Beauty Box!  Eeek!  Incredible!  And I used online prices and not retail prices.  Amazing!  This box was super heavy on the hair products, but like I said I am super into making my hair fabulous right now so I do not mind one bit!  Seriously for $44.95 how could I resists all this?  You’re right, I couldn’t!

Were you lucky enough to score an Allure Summer Beauty Box?  What do you think?  I believe the next one that will go on sale will be the Fall Beauty Box and I think that will be in like August.  Of course I will post a million reminders so no one misses it!  And don’t forget I am giving one of these boxes away!  If you want to enter, or just go back and get some more entries (you can enter daily), click here!
