Ohh, I forgot about this one when I was thinking about what boxes were coming this week, but my July 2014 Stitch Fix arrived yesterday!
If you aren’t familiar, Stitch Fix is a personal styling service for women. You provide your style, size, and budget preferences, and they will send you a package of stylish goodies to try on at home. There is a $20 styling fee that is applied to your order should you decide to keep any / all of the pieces. If you don’t keep anything, you don’t receive a refund of the fee. And if you keep all of the pieces, you get a 25% discount on everything! Also, I should mention that you are only charged once you “check out” at Stitch Fix. You have a few days to try everything on and the box comes with a bag and a prepaid return label so you can easily ship back the pieces you aren’t interested in.
Stitch Fix ships via FedEx and took about 4 days to arrive. They are in San Francisco and I am in Michigan, so that’s pretty good.
I always look in my account to see what I am getting, however, I never really know what anything is until I see it in person. Once your box ships, you can go to the review area of your account and it’ll show you all the items that are in the box this month. Well, it lists them all out, it doesn’t have pictures.
Stitch Fix comes with an information card which includes a listing of everything in the box, prices, and then a total of how much everything would be if you kept everything in the box (it deducts your $20 styling fee and the 25% discount for keeping all of your items). Just to give you an idea, my box had a merchandise total of $406 and had I kept everything, I would have had to pay $289.50 (plus my $20 styling fee). In comparison, my Fix from last month would have been $280.50 to keep everything. Here is what I received:
~Level 99 Morgen Ankle Length Jean ($118): This is a horrible picture, but these are actually a dark blue color. Anyway, they are okay, but I don’t love them enough to keep them for $118. I got a similar (and less expensive) pair from Stitch Fix last fall, so I will just stick with those. Verdict: Returned.
~Margaret Elizabeth Jewelry Danni Mini Cushion Cut Drop Earrings ($88): I received a gorgeous bangle from this brand a few months ago which I kept, but I think I am going to return these. Don’t get me wrong, I love them and think they are even prettier in person than in the picture. But I don’t think I’d get my $88 worth out of these. Verdict: Returned (but if they send me a ring I am all over that).
~Under Skies Olivina Hooded Slub Knit Cardigan ($58): Love love love. Oddly this is the least expensive item in the box, but it’s totally the one I love the most. I have a “thing” for clothes with hoods and I love cardigans so this is perfect. It’s lightweight and versatile and everything about it is just perfect. I am now on a hunt for a black one. Verdict: Kept
~Daniel Rainn Prylin Printed Pintuck Detailed Blouse ($68): Meh. This just isn’t me. I don’t mind the pattern, but not on a shirt. Maybe on a pillow? And the cut and material just isn’t flattering on me. At.All. Verdict: Returned.
~Splendid Sandy Pocket-Front Stripes Knit Shirt ($74): Ohh, I love Splendid pieces and I was super surprised to see this in here. I am going to make a note to my stylist to send more splendid! The fabric is super spot and it holds up perfectly in the wash. I know it’s a $74 t-shirt, but it’s worth it for me. Love. Verdict: Kept.
I kept two of my items and returned three of them this month. I feel like as long as I get one and don’t lose my styling fee, I am happy. I noticed in my stylist asked on the card this month if I had a Pinterest style board (which I do), so I need to double check and make sure I have that noted in my account. And I am going to revamp my profile and knock out the pants and add just skirts and dresses for right now instead!
