Candy German, who kindly sent me this box to review, sends boxes filled up with genuine German candies to subscribers around the world. Monthly boxes contain high quality, hand-picked German candies, such as chocolate, wine gums, bonbons, cookies, gingerbread, licorice, marzipan and more.
Candy German ships directly from Germany and took about a week to arrive.
Ohh, I loved the first look! It was packed full of goodies I had never seen before and was so excited to try. The box didn’t include an information card, but I am hoping that it eventually does so I can get some more details about the candies without having to google. Hopefully I got the names right, but here is what the June 2014 German Candy box included:
~Hitschler Brause Flummis: These taste like, hmm, foam wafers with a sort of sweet, sort of sour powder on the inside. It reminds me of ground up smarties, but sour. Not too sour, but I don’t love the texture combination of here. L does though.
~Haribo Pasta Flagga: I didn’t want to eat these little German flags until after the World Cup game, but now that the US advanced I feel like I can enjoy them without a problem. I actually liked these and thought L would love them too, but he wasn’t a fan at all.
~Koala Milch: I didn’t know that milch translated into milk, so when I tried these I was expecting them to have a vanilla filling. They don’t! They aren’t bad, but they aren’t as amazing as the chocolate ones either.
~Kinder Happy Hippo: We can actually get these there in the states. A store near me sells them and they are a fun treat for the boys.
~Fritt Vitamin C: I haven’t tried these yet, but I guess they are fruit strips with Vitamin C? They don’t sound like my thing, so I have kind of been saving them for B.
~Prinzen Rolle Minis: Delicious. Cookies with chocolate filling? Yes, I like that! I would for sure pick these up if I ever saw them again. After I tried the first cookie I was really happy that there were two more packs.
~nimm Lolly 2: I threw these in my purse in case of an emergency when we are out and about. Suckers are a huge treat and the boys both love them.
~Leibniz Pick Up! Choco & Milk: I love that, instead of cookies, these are called biscuits. And they are delicious. I don’t even know what else to say. It’s a chocolate filling, some sort of milk filling and the actual biscuit. So good.
I didn’t do a cost breakdown on this box because it would have been too hard with online prices, shipping costs, etc. But the box is about $40 USD/month, so that breaks down about $5 per type of snack this month. I don’t think that is too bad considering that you can’t get them all in the States and if you do, you’ll be paying for shipping.
