So much mail today! And one of the packages that was waiting for me in my mailbox (I had mail on both my porch and in the mailbox) was my June 2014 ipsy Glam Bag!
If you aren’t familiar, ipsy is $10/month and sends its members a beautiful Glam Bag with 4-6 deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products. Their bags always have an incredible value (well over the $10 cost) and I am always amazed at how they do it.
Ipsy ships via DHL Global Mail and took five days to arrive. I consider anything less than a week for ipsy to arrive to be pretty good, so five days was great.
The June 2014 ipsy theme was “Pretty in Paradise” and includes products that are excellent for an extravagant getaway or a quintessential kit for a quick trip for some peace and quiet. The June 2014 ipsy had 16 product variations and I believe each subscriber got five products this month, however, I am not totally sure how many bag variations there were. Regardless, here is what my ipsy bag included:
~Be A Bombshell Lash Out Mascara ($15): So I had read a few reviews about smell of this mascara and I thought gosh, how bad can this really be? Well, I can confirm that it totally stinks. Like paint thinner or something. Some people said that it has bothered their eyes (from the smell I am guessing?), but I am not about to try it on my eyes to find out if it bugs me. Be a Bombshell has indicated that it’s safe on their Facebook page, but I am just going to play it safe on this one and toss it. And maybe e-mail ipsy to see what they say about it.
~Marc Anthony Dream Waves Beach Spray ($3.25): This smells great and gave me some good texture and volume. If I didn’t already have a million sea salt sprays to use up, I would probably try to trade for another one of these.
~NYX Butter Gloss (Eclair) ($5): Totally love. I got a different shade of this in my April Lip Factory box and really liked that one as well. The price point is great and the gloss isn’t sticky at all.
~Jesse’s Girl Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner ($6.99): If I could specify that I would never wanted eyeliner in a subscription box I would probably do that. I will end up trading this or giving it to a friend.
~OLEHENRIKSEN truth to go wipes ($9): I was super excited to get these in my ipsy this month. I for sure would have been sad if I didn’t get these. I love them and I will for sure be picking up more of these.
~The Bag (Rebecca Minkoff) ($3): Probably one of my favorite ipsy bags to date. It was designed by Rebecca Minkoff and I love the colors, the pattern, everything!
~Bonus Items: I spent some of my ipsy points this month on a few lip items they had available. The lipstick is for my SIL and the glosses are mine! You can earn ipsy points for referring friends, reviewing products, etc. Sometimes products go fast, so you have to remember to check fairly often to see if they put new options up!
All totaled I came up with a value of $42.24 for the June 2014 ipsy Glam Bag. That includes the mascara, but doesn’t include any of the bonus items. Even with the mascara issue I really liked this month! It probably would have been my favorite ipsy ever if I could (well would) have used the mascara!

That is the second time Ipsy sent out bad smelling material. I had the pop lip gloss from a couple months ago. I am losing confidence with them.

i got the exact same bag. i am not sure about the eyeliner as I rarely uses black liquid liner (i’m more of a smudgy brown liner girl). I liked the gloss a lot. i have thick curly hair so the spray is useless to me. The wipes…as always…will be useful.
What did you think of the mascara??
i didn’t open it but will now that I’ve read all these reports of bad smelling mascara…i will say this…I have tough eyeballs…i once used elmers glue to glue on fake lashes for halloween.
It looks like on FB anyway that be a Bombshell is taking us all seriously and getting it tested by a different company. I just wonder why some people are saying theirs is fine and the rest of us get a nasty one. The smell just lingered once I opened it too. No way am I putting anything like that on my eyes.

I feel like I had to go take a whiff of mine and I was like yeah that’s nasty. It didn’t hit me right away the second I opened it. Is that how yours was?
Mine is stinky too. I don’t use mascara much because I wear contacts so I thought it was just me. But reading this is making me wonder if I should be using this stuff at all…
I got the lipgloss, beach spray, and stinky mascara too… And I also got a brown eye pencil and real tree perfume spray. Other than the mascara, I think it’s one of my favorite months! I pretty much only use brown eye pencils. Win!

Before you pass along your eyeliner, you will probably want to make sure it is not one of the exploding ones. Mine was.

I got the blue eyeliner which I’ll never wear and the real tree spray… eyebrow pencil…. nyx gloss… .. I really wanted the beach wave spray!
Maybe they will end up shipping it again??
This was my first Ipsy bag. I loved the lip gloss, sea salt hair stuff, and the little foundation pack of 4 mini shades. However, I HATED the liquid eyeliner.. Mine was one of the exploding ones, and it’s prob some of the worst liquid eyeliner I’ve ever tried.. It went on in a nice thin line, but the nice little line quickly ‘melted’ over the rest of my eyelid out like I had put watercolor on .
I wonder why the eyeliner exploded for some people? Mine didn’t, but that’s so weird. I wonder if the heat got to it?
I also got the mascara which smelled horrible and I threw it away and emailed ipsy about the issue. I haven’t heard back yet. I wear contacts so no way was I going to even mess with a potential eye infection. Very disappointing!

I tossed my mascara too- didn’t want to take any chances plus I have more than enough mascara anyway! LOVE the sea spray though! I need to check if they make shampoo and conditioner in that scent because it is sooo good.

I got the mascara, as well. Although, I didn’t notice an odor, I tried to apply it and ended up using a different mascara because you could hardly tell I used it, so perhaps just a poor product all around. Don’t be jealous but I got bright teal liquid eyeliner…so not me lol. I LOVE the lip gloss though and i got the BB sampler and it works great..it’s supposed to be exclusively at target but they didn’t have it at mine. I was happy overall with this month!

yep the mascara smells, and it doesn’t really do that great a job either so I would recommend skipping it.
I got three of same things as you. The lip gloss of course that everyone got. I didn’t really care for it but that’s bc the color i got was horrible on me. The beach spray, love the smell but my hair is so fine and straight that it doesn’t do anything but make it stringy. The bombshell mascara. I actually really like it. It does have a strong chemical smell when it’s wet but once it’s dry it doesn’t smell at all and it doesn’t bother my eyes. I also got the real tree perfume its ok but more of scent for a kid or teen. And an eye brow pencil.
That is good that it doesn’t bother your eyes! I am scared to test it!
Hi great review and I also received the butter gloss in Eclair but honestly any Nyx shade would have been a win 🙂 I also got the shimmer eyeliner which is super bright and nice, not sure if it’s full sized though, but I am thinking I need to go buy more. And my bag contained the Carol’s Daughter anti frizz styling creme and I was excited to try this brand, but I’ve also tried Marc Anthony hair products before (in fact I’m still finishing one up) and it didn’t wow me, but everyone raving about this beach spray that I sort of want to try it. Do you think it works on short hair? because I just cut mine all off for that pixie look (it’s simpler and nice, but I’m missing the creativity I used to have with longer hair and I’m looking for different looks).
I don’t know if it would work?? It might be worth trying to trade for to see though??
I got different items in my bag. I thought my bag was okay. It was my first bag and I guess I was expecting more from Ipsy. I got three products an eyeliner, perfume sample, and NYX lip gloss I will use and an eyebrow pencil and hair cream that I won’t be using. I think the bag was my favorite thing about my Ipsy bag this month.

I got the mascara, laneige BB, NYX gloss in creme brulee, shimmer eyeliner in green, and Marc Anthony spray. The mascara smelled so weird, I agree! I tried it though and the smell did not linger and it didn’t irritate my eyes at all. I heard that the reason it smells so crazy is that they didn’t add any extra chemicals/scents to make it smell better (normal). I guess that’s what a lot of mascara smells like without the added scent. For me, I really loved this bag! I am very happy with my ipsy subscription.
