The Tasteful Pantry, who kindly sent me over this box to review, is a subscription box for your “free-from” dietary needs. They offer their Treat Box which contains 6-8 individual-size sweet and salty snacks, customized for the ‘free-from’ preferences you provide during the check-out process for your first order.  And they have also just recently added their new “Low Carb / High Protein” box which is aimed at those who want to slim down, build strength, or stick to a low carb diet without sacrificing taste. I received the new Low Carb box to review this time, but I have reviewed their Treat Box in the past which you can check out here.

First Look

Everything was neatly packaged and I was looking forward to checking it all out.  I don’t have any food allergies or a “free-from” diet, but I do like trying new things so I was up for whatever it included.

The Information Card

The June 2014 The Tasteful Pantry Box “Low Carb / High Protein” included the following items:

~Luke’s Organic Multigrain & Seed Crackers: These are really good!  They are thinner than your average cracker so I’d call them a cracker / chip hybrid.  They actually sell chips too which I would love to try so I could compare the two.

~Golden Valley Organic Beef Jerky: Totally a B item.  He loves all kinds of beef jerky so he’ll gobble this right up when he gets home.  Sometimes I am not even sure if he tastes it because he eats it so fast!

~Simple Squares Cinna-Clove Bar: I know I have had these before.  Maybe not this flavor, but I have had these simple squares.  I don’t love the cinna-clove ones, but it might be because I am not a huge cinnamon lover to begin with.

~Sahale Cashews with Pomegranate & Vanilla:  Good, but not my favorite flavor from them.  B will like them more than me.

~The Better Chip Spinach & Kale Chips: These came in the last FabFitFun box and were way better than I had ever expected.  Way better.  I haven’t located them at the store yet, but if I ever do I am getting them for sure.

~Foods Alive Onion Garlic Flax Crackers: I don’t know why I don’t have a picture of these?  I’d totally take one right now, but umm, they are gone.  Obviously that means I liked them.  I have tried flax crackers before but the onion & garlic on these made them 100x better!

I didn’t do a cost breakdown for this box, but at $21.99 (plus $3 shipping) it breaks down to about $3 a snack which I don’t think is unreasonable at all!  If you are interested in ordering or just want to learn more about The Tasteful Pantry and check out all the options they offer, click here.
