Birchbox Man
Cost: $20/month.
Ships To: United States.
I opened up the mailbox yesterday expecting to find just one box (Hammock Pack) and there was B’s August 2014 Birchbox Man box! I seriously hadn’t even gotten a shipping notification for it and there it was!
If you aren’t familiar, Birchbox Man is $20/month and sends you monthly deliveries of deluxe grooming and lifestyle samples, tailored to your profile. With Birchbox Man you can try cult brands, up-and-coming lines, and everything in between.
My tracking e-mail arrived a few hours after my box did and it appears that it took just three days to get to me from TN, which is awesome!
The August Birchbox Man box was larger than normal which had me totally wondering what was inside. The box wasn’t heavy so I knew it wasn’t a candle or something like that, but I had no clue what it was.
I think this is the second month in a row for Birchbox Man that the box arrived before the boxes were updated on the Birchbox site. I hope that happens with my August Women’s box as well ;).
The August 2014 Birchbox Man theme was “Summer Camp”. B received Box #11 (*) this month which included the following items:
~Baxter of California Facial Scrub ($2.13): I am partial to ALL Baxter of California products due to the name alone. That said, they are actually great products and B has always been happy in the past.
~Billy Jealousy White Knight Gentle Daily Facial Cleanser ($2.50): B has been traveling more than normal lately and this will be perfect. He likes to not take a checked bag so all these small containers are perfect.
~Clinique for Men Broad Spectrum SPF 21 Moisturizer ($3.75): B always used to use Kiehls moisturizer, but I think he’s been finishing up a bunch of samples right now looking for a new one to love. Maybe this will be it?
~Game Day Aftershave: Soothing Balm ($7.35): I wonder what B does with all the aftershave balm he gets? I am not totally sure I have ever seen him use it? Granted I am sleeping when he gets ready for work, so who knows?
~Grover Boxers ($22): We had been getting all of lifestyle items that B would have picked for himself, but that streak is over. These are just so not him. At all! He would have preferred the cool red flask that some other boxes got. But you can’t get everything you want, so we’ll just look forward to next month!
All totaled I came up with a value of $37.73 for the August 2014 Birchbox Man – “Summer Camp” box. This doesn’t include the including points for doing reviews and purchasing the box itself (**) – which would bring the value up to $44.73 ($5 in Birchbox points for reviews and $2 in Birchbox points for purchasing)! Birchbox Man is $20/month and I think we were both just meh this month. The samples were great, but the lifestyle item isn’t him.
Do you get Birchbox Man box this month? What’d you think of the box this month and what lifestyle item did you get (there was a bracket, boxers and a flask I believe)? If you are interested in subscribing or just want to learn more, click here!
I mean I guess they are boxers and can always be used but you are right they are kindof boring. 🙁 I usually love seeing all the boxes B gets knowing that he likes them. When I try and get M a box he just looks at me like I’m crazy. LOL
These kind of reminded me of Scott Disick. I have no idea why.
We got box 15 with the leather bracelet 🙁 I wish they would let you choose the men’s lifestyle item because that can really make or break the value of the box for me. We’re getting a $40 leather bracelet that he’ll never wear and I have no idea who I would give it to. But, the grooming products we are getting look great!
I wish they’d let you choose too! They did it once moth.
I expected the “Grover” boxer shorts to actually have Grover on them! Then at least your little guys would get a giggle out of them.
That would have been cooler.
I wonder how many boxes of the 19 selections there are. 🙂 8 bracelets, 8 boxers, 2 flasks, and 1 sunglasses/playing cards. Interesting!
I guess it makes sense that we didn’t get the flask. Odds weren’t in our favor!
Hello! I have a points question in relation to the subscriptions–do you get points for the initial cost up front AND points each month a box ships? Or is it just each time a box ships or just the initial payment? Thanks!
When you do the annual or 3 month or long subscription you get the points up front. And then monthly you’d get the points for reviewing your box. If you pay monthly I don’t think they add 10 points to your account when you get billed. Someone can correct me if I am wrong.
No, you don’t. I’m currently on monthly but I’ve been considering on upgrading to a sub. I totally failed when they offered awesome promos for annual subs but maybe I’ll get lucky again soon! I’m hoarding my points waiting for a new limited edition! Hopefully one comes out soon 🙂
Does anyone know if there are ever any good coupons for BB men’s subscription? I’ve been watching and never see anything, maybe I am missing??? Thanks!
I have seen a few. I think I got double points when I got an annual subscription so it was an extra $20 in Birchbox credit? That may have been a deal they sent after I bought the first 3 moth subscription though?
I agree with Jennifer 100%. I am on month 7? of a 12 month – and my lifestyle item has always been great (boxer briefs, wooden headphones, undershirt, j-fold card wallet) but these boxer shorts totally missed for me. The L didn’t fit (slim fit boxers that don’t stretch/move – fail) and they are cut weird (rounded edges etc. reminded me 1970’s phys-ed shorts). I have liked the rest of the boxes. I don’t really understand how they decide who gets what lifestyle item. Is it random or sort of a round robin (you get the best this mo, then the 2nd best next mo, 3rd best next, and then back to the best item…) or random luck what box they grabbed and put your address label on or ??
