July 2014 Barkbox

The furries were really excited yesterday when their July 2014 Barkbox arrived!  I get a lot of boxes, but I swear they know this one is theirs.  Seriously.

If you aren’t familiar, BarkBox is a monthly subscription box for dogs! Each monthly box contains a combination of 4-6 treats, toys, and hygiene products that have been hand selected and approved by Scout, head product tester for BarkBox. We have been getting Barkbox since I found a Groupon for them over two years ago and haven’t looked back!

The Box

Barkbox ships via DHL Global Mail and took six days to arrive.  Last month it took three.  You just never know.  I was so excited to get the goodies out of this box that I forgot to take a first look picture! Oops!

The Information Card

The July 2014 Barkbox is a treasure chest of seashore inspired goodies.  Barkbox included the following items to bring your pups some new friends and and new favorites right from the bottom of the ocean:

~P.L.A.Y. Clam Toy ($10): I have got to start putting away some of these toys for Baxter and Buddy.  Or at least cleaning out their toy bin and tossing the icky ones.  I gave this to the them and they just kind of looked at me like are you sure this is for us?  To their credit it does kind of look like a kids stuffed animal.

~Loopies Corduroy Whale Toy ($10): Now this the boys knew was theirs.  I guess they realize that the kids don’t have any toys with this material? Not sure.  They didn’t play with it too much, but once one of the kids wants to play tug of war with them I’m sure it will be on.

~PetSafe Indigo Triple Chews ($10): I can’t tell if the dogs liked these or not.  I gave them each one, but they ran off to separate corner of the house and who knows what happened next.  Baxter has a tendency to store things in under pillows or in the corners of the couch, so who knows where these are.

~Think! Dog Louisiana Crab Jerky ($7): These smell horrible, but of course the boys went crazy for them. They are super small so they are great for the big boys (L and WB) to give to the dogs as they have a tendency to pass out multiple treats at once.  A few of these is better than a few of some of their other much larger treats!

~Mr. Barksmith’s Pina Colada Smoothie ($2): These little Cool Treats are always a huge hit with Baxter and Buddy.  I don’t know that they have a favorite flavor (it’s probably hard  to have a favorite when you can’t taste it because you are eating too fast), but if I were a dog in the summer, I think I’d be happy with Pina Colada.

All totaled I came up with a value of $39 for the July 2014 Barkbox box!  This seems to be a bit higher value than many of their recent boxes and that makes me happy.  I am for sure going to need to find more of that dog jerky because I think they are addicted!

Do you subscribe to BarkBox?  What’d you think of this month’s box?  If you want to subscribe or learn more, click here. A monthly subscription is $29/month, but if you opt for a longer subscription, the price drops as low as $18/month (that’s what I get)!  And you can use the code “RAMBLING” save 15% off ANY subscription plan which would make it an even better deal!
