I did my review on our other July 2014 Citrus Lane box last week (that one was for a 4 year-old boy), but now it’s time for WB’s actual Citrus Lane box! He’s 27 month-old and I have his box set at his actual age.
If you aren’t familiar, Citrus Lane is a monthly subscription box for babies from 0 to 5 years old which contains four or more products selected especially for the age and stage of your child. Citrus Lane is $29/month, but they have a coupon code “TAKE20OFF” which lets you pick up your first box for $9! And if you order an annual subscription the price drops down to $19/month. I always opt for the longer subscription with them because it’s a way better deal. In fact, I get two Citrus Lane boxes every month because it’s such a deal!
Citrus Lane ships via FedEx Smart Post and took the standard week to arrive. I had an add-on with this box (a train book), so it actually shipped in a much larger box with the above box and the train book inside.
As usual with CL I didn’t know exactly which box WB would fall into this month. I think he was pretty close to the cut-off this month for the next age group this month.
The July 2014 Citrus Lane box included the following Citrus Lane favorites for on the go:
~My First Camera from Plan Toys ($15): We got to pick between this camera and a Plan Toys cell phone for our box customization this month. I opted for the camera since I knew that WB would know the different between my phone and his fake one. I will admit I thought both options were a little young, but this camera is so cool. It’s got a kaleidoscope lens which I didn’t realize! L even loved it!
~Aqueduck Faucet Extender from Peachy ($12.99): I had no clue this existed, but wish I would have known about it years ago. It’s SO hard for little ones to reach the faucet and the information card is right, it’s hard to hold them up! I can’t figure out where I want to keep this. At home, in my bag, up-north! The options are endless.
~Silicone Placemat from Oogaa ($8.99): We actually already got one of these a while ago from Citrus Lane. We’ve used it a few times, but I wouldn’t call it a favorite. I know they say that it’s better than a plate, but WB seems to be able to pick this up too, so it wouldn’t stop him from throwing it. He doesn’t do that anymore, but still. I think I may end up using these to put down when the boys paint or draw to save the table.
~Mighty 4 Pouch from Plum Organics ($2): I am going to have to talk L into eating this or put it in a bowl for WB because there is no way I can talk him into eating any kind pouch other than an elmo one. Perhaps if it’s in a bowl he might try it.
~Pur~Protect SPF30 from Pur~Lisse ($16.50): I am going to post a picture of all my pur~lisse samples from the past few months. I swear I have gotten at least 10. At least. Like I said, it’s not that I don’t like it, it’s just that I think I am set for life!
~Bonus Gift: In The Garden With Van Gogh Board Book ($6.99): This came with a little information card that said that the box included something we may have received in the past (which it did since we have gotten the Oogaa Placement before) so to enjoy this book as well. I thought that was awesome that they included the book and I actually love the book itself! Total score.
All totaled I came up with a value of $62.47 for the July 2014 Citrus Lane Box for a 27 month-old boy. I was super impressed with this box and loved the camera, the faucet extender and the bonus book the most. Everything else was just icing on the cake. Great month!
Did you get a Citrus Lane this month? What age did you get and what came in your box? If you are interested in subscribing, click here and use coupon code “TAKE20OFF” to save $20 off your first box! That would make your first Citrus Lane box $9 which is incredible!!! Or you could use the code “BOXSHOP30” to get $15 off your first box and $15 in shop credits! You will be enrolled in a monthly subscription (which you can always cancel if you are not happy), but it’s totally an amazing way to try them out!
We got the exact same box this month for a 26 month old girl. I agree the camera is young for them – I would have liked getting a different toy.
Once I realized it was a kaleidoscope I changed my tune. My 6 year old has actually been playing with it more than my little guy!
Ah Im so jealous we didn’t get the extra board book, even though we received the placement before in another CL box. I love the camera though, it’s really neat! And it’s so sturdy at least I know it will never break on us.
I wonder why you didn’t??
We also didn’t get the board book and we have gotten the ooga mat before too 🙁
I was super disappointed with this month’s box.
We already have the mat.
The pouch was nasty, he hated it.
The aquaduck pretty useless on our sink.
Sunscreen…um I make our own.
Camera was so so. Very cute but also very heavy. We have a thrower so we had to hide it from our tot.
I would have enjoyed the book though. Oh well.
My daughter is a 2/28/12 and she got the next age up with the box. 🙂
I knew we were right on the border!
Sending the book is awesome. I agree on the phone and camera being a little too young both of my boys do still play with old phones and cameras so I’m betting they will all be kid hits if people let their kids have them.
I think the fact that it’s actually a kaleidoscope makes it 100x cooler!
Slap an elmo sticker on the pouch! Done!
Oh no no, we’ve tried that. he’s way smarter than that! It’s on;y a certain type of elmo pouches too. They are yellow. There is another type that’s white and purple with elmo on them. He’s not having that. It’s so funny!
I was super impressed with this month’s box. EVERYTHING was put to use immediately. My daughter is obsessed with the placemat and wants to carry it around, sit on it, fold it up, stand on it…but she loves it.
The camera was much nicer than I expected. I think my husband and i got more fun out of it than my daughter.
WAY nicer than I expected too! We all love the camera.
I can’t understand why Pur-liss is everywhere, yet I only received one from FabFitFun. It needs to be in the boxes that I subscribe to so I do not need to buy more sunblock. It’s a cute box. I miss that age. My youngest is 5.
LOL! It’s been in ipsy, Boxcharm, FabFitFun, Citrus Lane, so many!
Wow how did you get such an awesome box?!?!? I got the purlisse, a food pouch like you got, the stacking matching game and a cheap little finger puppet doll. For $30??! I’m not impressed. I would have to loved to get what you got!! Did you hear they got bought by someone new?
I did hear that! I got what you mentioned above in my 4 year old boy box, except instead of the doll we got a truck. Which is great!
I got the same box as you for my 4 year old girl. I agree that it wasn’t worth $30. I got my 1st box for $9 and was going to cancel because the value wasn’t there for me (at $30). However, I did the recnt Gilt offer and with 20% off for being a first time Gilt user I got a pretty good deal.
I am interested in seeing how they change with being bought out by Care.com.
I got the Citrus Lane this month too but mine didn’t have the camara option or the book. Otherwise everything was the same except the toy was a cookie shaped purse. Which is ok but I think the camara or phone would have been better. Mine is for a 28 month old girl.
I bet that was the cut-off! I probably would have gotten a John Deer toy if he was a bit older.
Wow, I need to get a copy of that book! Van Gogh is one of my favorite artists so that’d be a fun way to introduce him to my little guy. And board books are almost indestructible which is a HUGE plus!
My son received the older box- he’s 5 and he absolutely loves this month- got a big wheeled monster John Deer tractor and ever since he started receiving these toys- he has been taking better care for his toys- he also got matching cards- which helps with counting- at first I thought maybe a little young … But when he plays it’s just his right age- plus knowing he needs to take care of his toys to get the next month (I got a year) he takes care- keeps pieces together puts them back has bee. Worth it!
This was our second CL box… I love the surprise every month. How are you notified that you got to pick between the camera and the cell phone toy? We got stuck with the cell phone and it’s even young for my 13 month old! I never received an option to pick!
They generally send out an e-mail with that month’s pick your box option. If you don’t get it, you can also see it on your side bar in your account.
For a 31 month old neutral we got an identical box to you. My nephew that is 2 months old got an identical box to the 4 yr old box. Weird. Who knows what the cut off was??
I like that they added the book in, totally made it worth it and Annalise LOVES books right now…
My son is 14 months.
He got
– My First Phone (he is OBSESSED with phones, this one wasn’t as cool as I thought it would be but he likes that he can push the buttons.)
– Blue Silicone Bowl
– Plum Organics Pouch
– Pur-Lisse Sample
– A Garden Counting Book (SUPER jealous of that Van Gogh one though. ;D )
All in all he was happy. I really do like Citrus Lane and have a subscription until May of next year which I will probably renew again because every month keeps the kid happy. =]
The Van Gogh book is so cool. I feel like I scored big time.
Wondering if you or anyone else has ever had a problem with citrus lane boxes shipping. I didn’t get my July box (9 month old girl) until August 2nd, same day as my mystery box. I called citrus lane twice and they twice told me they sent out replacement July boxes. I only received one. Three boxes got shipped but somehow I only got one! Not sure what happened this month but I’m wondering if anyone has ever had a problem similar.
That is crazy! I have been getting them for years and have never had an issue!
