July 2014 Love With Food

I have been busy testing out my July 2014 Love With Food snacks and I think it’s time to do the review!

If you aren’t familiar, Love With Food box members receive a curated box filled with 8+ unique gourmet food items. Each box brings new delights, with bites that vary based on seasonal themes. In addition, Love With Food donates a meal (I actually think this month was two meals) to a child in need with each box purchased, which you can read more about here.

The Box

Love With Food ships via DHL Global Mail and I believe it took about a week to arrive.  That’s about typical for my boxes from them.  If it happens to arrive more quickly, all the better, but I don’t expect it.

First Look

I was so hungry when I opened this box that it was actually kind of hard to take pictures of everything before I got to have a snack!

The Information Card

The July 2014 Love With Food theme is “Happy Camper” and included the following items to take with you out on your adventure this summer:

~Bar by 2 Degrees: Not my favorite snack ever, but it will do in a pinch.  I think if I actually were camping I’d like it much better.

~Sea Salt Lentil Crackers by Mediterranean Snacks: I loved these.  They were softer (maybe airer is a better word) than most crackers which I really enjoyed.  I think paired with grapes and apples and some spreadable cheese that you’ve got yourself quite an amazing snack.

~South Asian Snacks by Zouq (Golden Lentils): I am almost embarrassed to report that I thought from the picture that this was dried corn.  It’s so not.  It tasted like very salty rice crunchy rice to me.  I didn’t hate them, but I don’t know if I would buy them on my own.

~Butter Crisp Love Minis by ginny bakes: I love butter cookies!  Love them.  These are delicious and the only thing that could have made them better would have been if they had the sugar on the top like the butter cookies you get in the big tins around the holidays have!

~Kids Organic Mixed Berry Chews by Honey Stinger: I have finally set up a special snack area for the kids in the pantry and this is headed in there.  Anything I don’t mind them snacking on goes in there and they can just grab and go when they say they want something.  I put one in the fridge too.  So far it’s working out very well.  If there are cookies in the snack bin, you can have cookies.  If not, well you can pick something else.

~Dutch Cocoa by Somersaults: These come in a variety of flavors, but I think the cocoa is my favorite!  They have lots of protein and really do keep you full!

~Chocolate Chip Fluff by Madyson’s Marshmallows: I am planning on sending this up with L on his next up-north adventure to make s’mores with!  It’s got chocolate chips right in it and looks really good.

~White Cheddar Puffs by Beanitos: If you can get passed the smell of these they are good.  I wasn’t expecting them to smell when I opened the package, but they do. I didn’t think it really smelled like beans, but I don’t know what else it could have been?

I didn’t do a cost breakdown on the July 2014 Love With Food box (I never do), but, as usual, I do feel like I got my $12 worth!  It wasn’t my favorite ever box but I loved trying all the new snacks and products in here.  I think the best part was that I only recognized a few of them (I love that).
