Made in the Mitten, who kindly sent me this box to review, is a curated box of four to five items handmade by, or representing, artisans throughout the state of Michigan. You’ll find jewelry, décor items, body products, food, maybe a promo from one of Michigan’s many breweries. Every month, the selections will be different, but every month you’re guaranteed to receive amazing items from Michigan-based artisans whose love for this state rivals your own.

The Package

Made in the Mitten ships via USPS Priority Mail and arrived in just one day.  They are in Michigan and I am in Michigan, so it was super quick.

The Box

Since I live in Michigan I was even more excited than normal to open this box up.  It wasn’t super heavy, but it felt full.

First Look

I couldn’t tell much from the initial look, which made me even more anxious to see what was inside.

The Information Card

There is no theme to the Made in the Mitten (other than that everything was made in Michigan), but the information card was very cute and there was no doubt what this box was about.  Here is what the July 2014 Made in the Mitten box included:

~Birch Bark Ornament from Bettula ($10): Very cool!  I will certainly hang this on my Christmas tree this year.  I tried to look on their etsy shop to see how they made this, but I couldn’t find anything.  I would love to learn more though.

~Botanical Garden Soap from J & L Creations ($5.95): How gorgeous is this?  It smells great and I love the colors.  I need to take a picture of my bar soap collection.  B just can’t use it all fast enough.  LOL.  I have been using it here and there too, but I feel like we just aren’t making a dent in it.

~Infinity Nautical Knot Rope Bracelet from Designs by Amanda Marie ($5): A little bright, but I will figure something out for it!  I really like this white rope bracelet with the fish hook clasp.  That is super cute.

~2 Chix & a Mix Magic Mix ($6.99): You don’t need to bake this.  You just add a nut or a seed butter, honey and vanilla and you have a delicious treat bar.  I don’t camp, but if I did this is like the perfect camping cookie mix to bring along!

~Issue 1 of Detroit Sports Consumer ($5.99): I’ve never heard of this before, but maybe that’s because it is the first ever issue?  It’s a quarterly subscription and is something I think my brother will totally enjoy so I will pass this along to him.

~Michigan 5×7 Print by Paper & Honey ($7): Hands down this is my favorite item in the box.  I couldn’t be happier about this.  I don’t know exactly where I am going to put this yet, but I will be framing it for sure!

~Bell’s Brewery Logo Sticker ($1): WB wanted to help me out with this unboxing and took the sticker for himself as his reward ;).  An actual Bell’s beer would have been better (well for me anyway, not for WB), but I know they can’t send that in the mail so I understand!

All totaled I came up with a value of $41.93 for the July 2014 Made in the Mitten box.  Not only was the value there, but I had never heard of most of these brands or products before (except for the beer – I knew about that ;)) and liked learning about the new Michigan products!

    I love the print.

Thanks for the great review! I loved each and every item in this month’s box, and I’m so glad other people do, too. We have very talented artisans in the state of Michigan, and Made in the Mitten will have another amazing box of “homegrown” products coming up in August!

BTW, the bracelet is meant to represent the colors of Michigan’s two “big” college sports teams — blue for U of M and green for MSU 🙂

Ohh, I didn’t even realize the colors! I like the green part 😉
