The July My Community Box was very heavy.  Which, of course, made me super curious to find out what was inside.

First Look

Once I opened it I realized why it was so heavy!  Everything was packaged very nicely and smelled quite good.

The Information Card

The July 2014 My Community Box theme was “Embrace Your Inner Child” and included the following items:

~Old Coots BBQ Carolina Red BBQ Sauce ($6): This bbq sauce combines vinegar & pepper seasoning with tomato paste & molasses.  We’ll see what B comes up with for this.  Maybe just ribs on the grill?  We’ll see!

~Froggie’s World Hair Accessories (~$8): I will probably just end up using the yellow one as a hair tie instead of a headband, but I will totally wear the green headband!  Headbands do have a tendency to give me headaches though, so hopefully this one doesn’t bother me after wearing it for a while.  I tried it on briefly and it didn’t bother me, but we’ll see!

~Perfectly Natural Soap Handmade All Natural Bar Soap ($5): I am cracking up because I look the wrap off this to take the picture and then decided I didn’t need to put it back on to store it, so I have zero idea what the scent is.  I can’t place it (which doesn’t mean much since I am not good at this), but it smells great!

~Jody’s Gourmet Popcorn Recipe 53 ($4.50): I was curious why this was called Recipe 53 and loved that they explained that it was because the 53rd recipe was the final one they used for the popcorn!  Makes total sense.  If I ever happen to visit Virginia Beach this is totally the kind of place I would check out.

~Perfectly Natural Soap Bug Off! Lotion Bar Natural Bug Repellent ($16): I don’t know if I was suppose to get two of these or not, but I certainly don’t mind.  The bugs here (up-north and at home) are insane this year.  So bad.  Anything  that can help keep them away is a plus!  And this is all-natural which is an added bonus.

All totaled I came up with a value of $39.50 for the July 2014 My Community Box.  I thought they stepped it up from their last box in April and am quite interested to see what they include in the fall boxes.  I believe there was some variation in this month’s box (at least according to the information card), so if you received something different than I did, let me know!

Mine was similar to yours (pretty flower headband instead), and I really appreciated the double bug repellant.

Headbands give me a headache, too, and they’ve gotten smaller and smaller through the years. Saving money in the manufacturing?

I’m not sure. But it drives me nuts. It’s so hard to find a good one.

I’ve had some luck with headbands from Vera Bradley, and a couple from World Market. For around the house, I like the knit fabric ones, but I’m still using some I got at least five years ago. Recent purchases have ended up, usually, in the trash.
