Paper Dots
Cost: $25 (Paperback) / $30 (Hardcover)
Ships To: United States.
Paper Dots, who kindly sent me this to review, sends subscribers one handpicked, expert-curated book to their doorstep each month. Book selections are made for you based on your questionnaire answers. It has questions like what was the last book you read, why did you like it, what was the last book you read and didn’t finish, what genre of books do you like, etc. Books are selected to engage and entice subscribers into becoming a committed reader. Boxes also include “a little something” extra to help the words come off the pages and into your life!
Paper Dots ships via USPS Media Mail and took four days to arrive. Paper Dots is in Texas and I am in MI and I think that is amazing for Media Mail.
I have to tell you, I was dying to see what book they picked for me this month. I absolutely loved “Me Before You” which was their last pick for me and I wanted to see if they would be able to do it again!
Since all boxes are customized there is no information card, but here is what I received this month from Paper Dots:
~The Selection by Kiera Cass: Just like with my last Paper Dots box, I have never heard of this book. Honestly though, had I stumbled into it at the bookstore, I probably would have picked it up just based on the cover alone. While I love Amazon, I do think that it limits what books I discover. Instead of walking down the aisles and checking out the tables of books I end up looking at best sellers or I need to know what I am looking for. I think this one will be another quick read, but hopefully (fingers crossed) it won’t leave me in tears like Me Before You did (*)!
~Penny in a Jar: As I mentioned each month you will also receive a little “go with” to enhance your experience. I am not totally sure what the penny in the jar is all about since I haven’t started reading yet, but I am quite looking forward to finding out once I get into the book. I don’t think it’s got anything to do with the information I found when I googled penny in a jar, but we’ll see!
Like I said last time, I for sure don’t think that Paper Dots is going to save you any money by subscribing. No. They will, however, give you an experience and will introduce you to new books that you’ve never heard of before and, hopefully, will love! I am already excited to see what’s coming next month!

Maybe the penny in a jar goes with the book somehow? It would be awesome if the extra went along with the books. That would be a great tie in but kindof hard if they are customizing the books. Hmmm a thought LOL
Oh it totally ties into the book somehow. I just don’t know how because I haven’t started the book yet!
I loved The Selection! very Divergent and Hunger Games esque with a glamorous twist. I do think the reading level is lower than most Young Adult books, but overall I loved the series.
That’s okay with me! I can’t wait to start!
You should read, One Plus One. Also, by the author of Me Before You.
Will I end up in tears??
I’ll warn you right now that this is book #1 in a series of three. Luckily the third book came out in May so you could read them all. It’s a quick easy read and a great series. The penny in the jar is absolutely a nod to the novel. There were two different pilots made for this series that were optioned to the CW and turned down but I think it would make a good tv show. It’s kind of like The Bachelor meet The Royal Wedding.
Oh at least I won’t have to wait months if I want to read them all!
I love this series! There’s a total of 3 books I think. The penny in the jar definitely does have meaning in the story :).
Awesome!
Oh my gosh. The Selection is ridiculous, yet so addicting. It’s basically The Bachelorette. I think you will like it. And yes, the penny in the jar as something to do with the book. 🙂
Oh. And this one won’t make you cry. It is pure bubblegum.
Well the way you described it makes me know I will love it!
I have read this book and the “penny in a jar” will definitely make sense as you read the story. 🙂 I really like this series.
I can’t wait!
The penny in a jar is mentioned in the book.
Yes, I figured. I just hasn’t gotten there yet!
This is a fun read; great summer candy that you can pick up and put down if you have to, but you probably won’t want to put it down. I have read the whole series, and it is consistent throughout – and all the covers are great!
I have’t heard on bad thing on this book and it’s getting me so excited to read it!
I’m so glad everyone is discussing this book! I saw it at Barnes and Noble and was totally intrigued, but didn’t know much about the series. “The Bachelor meet The Royal Wedding” – SOLD!! 🙂
Ha! That would have sold me too.
Yeah, even though I figured what was going to happen in Me Before You happened, I still cried at the end.
