Tique Box
Cost: $30/month
Ships To: United States.
Tique Box, who kindly sent me this box to review, sends a monthly box of local goods by Portland artisans. Items are selected from a variety of categories and are also meant to showcase the local artists.
Tique Box ships via USPS and took just a few days to arrive. This box was very heavy which made me even more interested to see what was inside.
The first look told me nothing! There wasn’t an information card in my box, but it wasn’t too difficult to figure out what everything was. Here is what was included in the July 2014 “Backyard BBQ” Tique Box:
~Fatdog Handcrafted Mustard ($7): I am not a mustard fan, but B is and my mom likes it as well. I have been getting a lot of mustard lately in boxes so maybe someone is trying to convert me? It’s not happening if I can help it though!
~Vance Family Soy Candles (Portland Rose) ($5): This candle smells great and I love the little tin. The family who makes them sounds great too. They never use any synthetic fragrance and they donate 10% of profits to those in need.
~Zen Shine Pouty Lip Vegan Natural Lip Balm Coco Lime ($3): This smells very good and that smell made me “need” to try it out right away. It was super moisturizing and really did leave my lips shiny!
~YoshiniG Creative Geometric Frog Greeting Card ($3.50): This card is blank so it can be used for just about anything. I am not sure who I’ll send this too, but it will for sure be someone that likes frogs. Maybe I will even sent it to L! He’d love that.
~Locavore Shea Butter Soap (~$1): So B tells me yesterday that the closet is where I store all my subscription box goodies is too organized and now he can’t find anything – including soap. LOL! He’s silly! I still only use bar soap rarely, but he’s busy working through our stash and I will add this little guy to it for him.
~The Noble Spice Yellow jacket – Hot Earthy Curry (~$1): I wish Tique Box would have included a Portland’ish recipe for this so we could get some suggestions on how to use it!
All totaled I came up with a value of $20.50 for the July 2014 Tique Box. I can’t say that I am thrilled with this considering that the box is $30. I do understand that you’d have to pay for shipping if you were to order the items individually, but it just didn’t wow me.

Haven’t tried Tique Box but definitely getting one! Yours looks so great!
Have you tried Vain Pursuits? They’re sort of like Julep but for skincare. My girlfriends just won’t shut up about them… what do you think?
I haven’t heard about them! I will have to take a look! Thanks!
FYI, they throw at least $10 into their costs for shipping. I contacted them about this low value box, and they told me they allow at least $10 for shipping costs and “fuzzies.” Needless to say, I was shocked and dismayed, so I asked for a refund. Subscription boxes are NOT supposed to add shipping costs into the values of their monthly boxes. I hope they correct their mistakes. I will consider re-ordering once that happens.
I don’t ever add in shipping when I do my cost breakdown. I have seen a few boxes do it in their breakdown, but I don’t.
Thank you for this review and for sharing Tique Box with your audience. We are so fortunate to work with these incredible Portland vendors and they will appreciate your feedback.
