I was just wondering earlier this week which Fancy Box I was going to have to cancel so I could stick with the Nicky Hilton Fancy Box and I got my answer! My July 2014 Tyler Florence Fancy Box arrived today and it turns out that July is the last ever box from him. I guess that answers that!
Just in case you aren’t familiar, Fancy, which is $39/month plus shipping, has a “regular” Fancy Box full of cool goodies and celebrity curated boxes which include a collection of the coolest products hand-picked by Jennifer Love Hewitt, Verbal, Kelly Rowland, Coco Rocha, Snoop Dogg, T-Pain and / or Nicky Hilton. They also offer a Fancy Food Box (which is one of my favorites), as well as, Fancy Mystery Boxes.
Fancy Box ships via FedEx and took its standard two days to arrive. I received the notification for it on Thursday and it arrived today (Saturday).
Not a bad first look at all! I liked what I saw and knew it would be useful.
The July 2014 Tyler Florence Fancy Box didn’t have a stated theme, but it appeared very bar / cocktail themed to me. It included the following items:
~Wooden Muddler ($20): The little pouch for this gives a Mojito recipe which I know B loves. But you can use it for a variety of drinks. I am sure we have one around here somewhere, but it’s certainly not as nice as this one.
~Glass Cocktail Shaker ($25): I have gotten one of these from Fancy in the past (in a Jennifer Love Hewitt Fancy Box), but I do not mind the duplicate. They are awesome and make great housewarming gifts.
~Hex Ice Cube Tray ($11): I use these for all sorts of things – none of which include acting making ice. I make crayons, jello, little brownies etc. This is a shape I don’t have and I think will make really cool crayons.
~HIC Bar Mops ($10): For mopping up the bar, cleaning your counter, you name it, these will work. I am going to go through my drawers and throw away all my crappy ones and replace them with these nice fresh ones!
~Scrappy’s Bitters ($6): We’ll be adding these to the bar. You never know when the recipe will call for these and now we’ll have them on hand!
All totaled I came up with a value of $72 for the July 2014 Tyler Florence Fancy Box. I liked everything in the box well enough, but I wasn’t wowed by it. This may have been the Fancy Box I ended up canceling, but luckily I didn’t have to decide on my own since it’s the last month anyway.
Did you get the July Tyler Florence Fancy Box? What’d you think? Like I mentioned, this is the last ever Tyler FlorenceFancy Box, but if you want to check out one of the Fancy Boxes, click here and get on it! You can always use the coupon code “FOLLOWUP10″ (sometimes this seems to work and sometimes not) to save 10% on any Fancy.com, order, including subscription boxes. If you can’t find the Fancy Box you are looking for, I suggest just doing search for “Fancy Box“. It’s much easier than trying to navigate their site.
I got it, and didn’t even read the card that said it was the last one…but switched to another fancy box anyway. The last couple were “ok” – nothing spectacular. I don’t think the Fancy curators are as involved in the process as the Quarterly ones are…but I may be wrong.
I feel like they may be given a list to pick from or something??
Agree useful but not over exciting box. So do you know do they only do each box for a year? I was just wondering if maybe the celebrities sign up for a year and then they are done. Have any of the others gone longer?
Oh I don’ t know? That is a good question. I do think some have gone longer though. Coco Rocha’s has been longer than a year. I think Verbal’s too.
Can I ask if you have a post about making crayons or could tell me a little more about how you do it? Do you just melt regular crayons into unique shapes or do you use some other material? Thanks!
Just all old broken crayons. Sometimes I do multicolor ones, sometimes ombre. Sometimes all the same.
What do you use to melt the crayons? Just a pot on the stove?
No, that would be too hard to clean. I did a post on it once:
