The Box

The Homegrown Collective ships via USPS Priority Mail.  I received this box just before the 4th of July (boxes always ship towards the end of the month) and have been wanting to work on it ever since.  I took it up-north over the holiday week and didn’t get a chance and then every time I planned to work on it at home the day just got the best of me and time ran out.  Since I am not sure when I will get a chance to finish the projects I decided to go ahead and write the review anyway!

First Look

I hadn’t a gotten a look at any spoilers yet so I didn’t know what we would be making here. I thought it might be sunscreen related, but beyond that I was clueless.

The June 2014 Homegrown Collective theme was “Summer Time… & The Livin’s…” and included the following projects:

~After-Sun Aloe Lotion Bars: These bars work as a great “after-sun” lotion and according to the card help to hydrate your skin.  I was thinking about keeping one or two in the fridge to really cool after a long day outside.

~All Natural Insect Repellant: Love this!  The bugs aren’t so bad in my backyard, but up-north they are crazy awful.  This buy spray has no chemicals like a lot of the store bought sprays do, which is awesome. This mixture is suppose to be mixed with equal parts water and I should note that they included a storage bottle, as well as, a spray bottle do you don’t have to worry about what to do wit the undiluted mixture.

~All Natural Organic Sunscreen: Sunscreen is like our number one summer essential for the kids and it’s not really something I was even aware you could make it home.  That’s obviously what Homegrown Collective is for!  I also didn’t know that the differences SPF numbers on sunscreen were so small.  SPF 100 blocks 99% of the suns rays, SPF 50 blocks 98%, SPF 30 blocks 96.7%,etc.  Who knew?

I like that box! Is the box that you reviewed still available?

I don’t believe so?? You could always e-mail them and see if they have any though??

I emailed them and was able to buy this box. I read all the past reviews and can’t believe I’ve been missing out on this box. I’m looking forward to trying it out.

This looks like another good box! I may have to break down and order it, but the cost just gives me pause.

How big are those bottles of essential oils (as well as the soy and witch hazel)? I think the box looks cute, but I’m not sure if the price of a subscription is worth it. Then again it’s been a while since I’ve looked at essential oil prices so I could just be nitpicking.

Pretty small. Maybe the size of a finger?

I canceled my subscription with them because I had to scale back on expenses. I do still order boxes when a good one comes around in their shop. They often times have extras 🙂 This one I would not want though. Great box but not for me.

Purchased a three-month subscription for our daughter. Box 1 arrived on time. Box 2 arrived two weeks late after emailing several times. Box 3 is now a month late and I have emailed them several times with no reply. Unfortunately, they do not have a phone number. So many bad reviews of this company, wish I had looked into this more before signing up.
